Hi,
I have a mate who has a TD5 110 which was remapped before he bought the car. Unfortunately the cars ecu wiring loom had to be replaced because it was creating faults and putting the car into limp mode. The owner cleared the fault so he could get home but at the same time it removed the remap ![]() Thanks Jack |

Yeh that's the thing that confused both of us, the owner was there when the loom was replaced and the ECU was not touched. He does not know who did it

Only other thing I can think of is could he perhaps did not have a remap but one of these tuning chips that fools the ECU? - He may have just assumed it's a remap (It's the sort of thing I would do... hence the suggestion
![]() ![]() Assuming that this was connected into the old loom and that was replaced then ECU is fooled no more and it's back to stock. Although, if this were the case then surely either he or the person that replaced the loom would have noticed it...... I'll just keep going digging myself a bigger hole until somebody that actually knows what they're talking about comes along ![]() ![]() |

This is confusing as the ECU is reflashed with a new fuel file this replaces the standard fuel file so clearing a dtc would not be able to reflash the original fuel file to the ecu as there would be no record of the original fuel file meaning if that happened the car would be unable to run as there would be no fuel file as it would have been wiped
![]() ![]() PM could be on the right wavelength with the plug in module idea though ![]() |

PM could well be right. On my Disco 2 TD5 I had a dastek in-line tuning device that the dealer managed to plug back into itself
![]() After 'upgrading' to a Defender I had the ECU remapped rather than fit an in-line device again. Tony |

I'd contact the guy who he purchased it from to see if he can have the ECU mapped again. I know that if a remap is removed from a tuned vehicle (via Dealer software updates etc) I'm pretty sure that that Bell Auto's or IRB developments (if it can be proved that it's the same ECU/Vehicle that was mapped on records) it can be added to the ECU again... small labour charge usually included. If I'm wrong please state... most of the major LR tuners do this iirc. |
