Yeah, it does seem slightly unbalanced, however you don't want the rears locking before the fronts, and with the weight shift forwards then it will make the most of the fronts.

I can't wait to try mine either, I'm a tight git though so won't be taxing mine until the first of June Rolling with laughter 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I think the 4 pot rears will even out the brake balance, bowler had 4 pots on their kit, f and r, so the added extra 2 up front should be fine. I suspect a different braking / driving style might have to be adopted, especially in the wet, but will see.

Mine has Ashcroft ATB’s f/c/r, they have transformed it in straight line braking and general driveabliy, totally different beast now, especially in wet weather, off road, amazing, zero TC even in deep mud. Went through Cannock Chase before lockdown, while not really serious stuff, on loose gravel and big hill climbs, zero TC.

Just did some googling on what you said, very interesting. In France we can’t swap engines very easily, certainly when swapping from one fuel type to another. Indeed even adding an uprated suspension set up or big brake kit is against the regs, which defies logic. Safer vehicle with uprated brakes, suspension etc, but in theory not allowed. So very hard to do. But I have found that you can change an engine if it is like-for-like fuel. So this piques m’y interest. Watched a few videos and came across M W Machines 4x4. Seem to know their stuff and they have completed a TDCI. Looks great. Just wondering what sort of price, fitted or kit supplied? Monsieur Le Grenadier

One of the issues I face, living literally 200 meters inside the south circular in W London, they are expanding the low emissions zone next year, every time I drive my Defender, £12.50, there are two Twisted 110’s literally 300 meters away from me on the other side of the proposed zone, although they would pay driving into the zone, they are exempt.

While a LS3 might be overkill, there are other options, to me, as I intend to keep this Defender for a long time, it makes sense to go big. Certainly any cheaper than moving Thumbs Up

I have a centre ATB which, surprisingly, made a big difference to braking on mine. Front and rears are on my "upgrade on failure" list Laughing 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

You have to upgrade almost everything else when you do the front and rear ATB’s. Drive shafts, flanges, CV’s to really get the benefit out of them, then do the propshafts. Mine has zero clunking, zero, and it’s transformed it.

I started on the rear to front over 18 months, as I replaced things on the rear, and things were worn out after 60k miles, the clunking moved forward, as I upgraded things.

There is nothing besides the casings that are factory anymore, everything has been replaced and upgraded expensive, yes, worth it, undoubtedly.
