Dynamat alone doesn't really do much on a Puma bonnet. It's purpose is to add mass and reduce resonance but the Puma bonnet is already quite stiff. It has more of an effect on older bonnets.
I'd suggest that the biggest bang for your buck with this stuff is the rear floor and wheel boxes followed by the roof, especially if paired with closed cell foam. Improvements after that are incremental (seat box, doors, bulk head, etc) but the installation work becomes more difficult. I haven't ordered anything for the roof yet because I need to replace the headlining so I figured I'd do it then.
For now I have ordered dynamat sheets for the bonnet, front footwell, seat boxes, rear cab and seat boxes. Plus the acoustic mat system for the front. I'm hopeful this will make some reduction in noise Defender 90 Td5 BMW M4 Competition Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign |

Is there really such a difference doing the roof ? If the body and floor is already done.

The Defender will have far greater acoustic issues than a Freelander, but there may be some information here you can adapt. I have pulled apart the car a few times adding more & more acoustic insulation & it has improved things a lot even though the car was pretty good to start with.
My gut feel for the Defender is use the butyl first & then a thicker foam Van Liner. Even then in key areas I would use a few layers of van Liner. Under the bonnet I have used a few layers of engine bay liner as I felt one thickness simply was not enough. Rather than repeating everything again, you may be able to utilise a few ideas from here https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic33026.html Click image to enlarge Visitor - Freelander owner |

As LRA has done (which is probably the best way to do it), I've done my roof, only with the butyl pads, no foam though. Can't say I was blown away by the difference, but there was definitely a difference. Certainly made the stereo sound better. I also have the MUD Utility Storage Panels in the back of my USW, they come with closed cell foam to go behind the panels, and they certainly made a difference too, not to mention being very handy and improving the look. Mine is carpeted throughout and it's acoustic mat-backed carpet and although I've not taken it out to compare I imagine it does a half decent job too. In fact, I'd love to know if full carpet is a factory option, if anyone can tell me? I've not seen a USW that's carpeted even in the load area before. And where can I get more? I went for Noico butyl mats https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00URU...&psc=1 Good reviews, good price, does what it's supposed to and after doing the roof and rear panels I've still got a whole sheet left over.
