I think most tunes will give a small amount off black smoke below rougly 2000 rpm, above that there should not be any black smoke in my eyes. Roel

I had one a few years back and no smoke, but it did add more go, though I felt that perhaps it came in a little suddenly Rob

As above, I'd speak with forum sponsor Gareth at Empire Tuning! Does great work!! Will tune to suit your exact requirements, not just a standard tune. James

Great to hear it, will likely be sending it down when lockdown eases off.
For the moment I don't really need something specific to my use. Its more of case of just waking it up a bit more ! It already feels better with the new air sensor! Whats the feeling regarding additional wear on the turbo / other components? Think this truck has about 108k.... |

Yes JE did my tune on TD5 2006. Had the roof tent on at the time and when he took it for a test drive, approaching the roundabout way too fast, nearly rolled it. Big fright to us both.

Barely run in!!! Mines at 137k driven daily and putting out some chunky power at the min. Planning to go further shortly. That said I had the turbo off and fitted a hybrid within 2 days of getting my 110 easy to check wear on the turbo just pull the hose off anf give it a wiggle. Minimal lateral play is fine in and out play is not. Click image to enlarge TD5s are wonderful engines, very strong, very powerful (when done right) and very reliable. Gareth at Empire would run through everything with you, along with check the car over to ensure its healthy enough to take it. Post lockdow that is! Best bet is to speak to him. Around 1 year After my TD5 JE tune, I remember hearing a whistling noise when on throttle. Turned out to be cracked manifold, as a result of higher temperatures due to the tuneup. There’s always a negative somewhere along the line.

I was under the impressions that stages of tune are related to the physical modifications done/needed to run that particular software? Regards Chris |

Everyone has different definitions of 'Stage x' so even that is hard to compare like for like.
As mentioned previously remaps should definitely not be done in stages as they should be bespoke to the owners requirements and the vehicles modifications. |
