Replacing sunroof seal
Time has come to replace the sunroof seal (I might as well leave it open give the water that gets in when raining)
Mine is the sunroof in the middle of the roof over the 2nd row of seats.
The sunroof has a twist handle rather than the pull down & lock latch.

In replacing the seal, do I need to remove the headlining or black fabric internal trim and also, does the glass need to come off? (also thinking of new hinges as well)

This is a 1999 td5. 1999 Defender TD5 110

2nd row seat sunroof in not a standard Land Rover thing... as for removal, just pull the felt/rubber inside trim piece (item 5) off, start at the handle that is where it joins. You should be able to do it all without pulling the roof liner.

Cheers. I have not seen another one with the same sunroof as mine. From what I can tell it is a standard LR item but in the middle.

I shall have a look over the weekend before I spend £70 on a seal. 1999 Defender TD5 110

If it is the seal to the glass, you can do it all in situ. Pull the glass out, stand up inside and pry out the seal. It is a PITA to do but if you get the right tools and some silicone spray to mAke it easier, it’ll work.

That’s funny I have thought about doing that to mine as well but decided it was too much work 😂. I too would like to see that. Thumbs Up 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

2001 TD5 Defender 90 Leaking Sunroof fix
Here's another solution for those of you with a leaking sunroof, and yes it works. You'll need to purchase 3mm to 5mm thick perspex either clear or tinted (eBay), slightly larger than the existing sunroof, some clear bonding sealant and be handy with either a jigsaw or a fretsaw. Take out and strip existing Sunroof, mark outline onto perspex and then cut approx 5mm within that around the outline including the fixings and clamp mechanism. Check 5mm is enough, the idea is to compress the existing seal down when bonded to the glass roof, so it needs to sit on the seal but not the seal frame. Once cut, assemble and re-position in roof to make sure the roof seals and there are no clashes with existing fixtures. When happy fix perspex to glass using the sealant adhesive. It works, and although makes the sunroof stick-up 3-5mm more does not increase wind noise, not that you'd hear that anyway.

I replaced all the seals with new ones and new hinges. I had to add some rubber foam sponge stuff to seal the rear edge (The side where the latch is) as the glass has a curve to it, the glass and seal would not sit together and left a gap. Even with the latch tightened up as much as I could.

I tapered each end of the foam to try and match the glass. Lots less in the way of leaks, but still the odd sneaky one appears. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Can anyone tell me the part number for just the rubber seal on the sunroof with the twist handle?

All I seem to be able to find is AWR3321 according to lrworkshop.

https://www.lrworkshop.com/parts/AWR3321

But this appears to be the whole frame and it is £470.

Cheers
