Doing some work during the lock down and have noticed that the door check strap plate is quite rusty.
I was wanting to check how I remove this plate. There is one bolt that appears to go through the bulkhead and has sealant on the other side. There are then two other bolts holding a plate for the spring, but can't see what is behind them. I picked off the sealant and there appears to be a nut underneath. So, do I just undo this one bolt and nut to get the plate off? Cheers! |

And does any one know what size bolt it is?
Can't see it anywhere on the parts diagrams. |

I did mine a couple of years ago as the bracket was causing rust on the bulkhead or visa versa. To do the drivers side I took the bonnet off and used a long reach socket adapter with the swivel to get to the bolt behind the Abs unit. Definately a two person job, Mrs in foot well with a spanner tightening and myself holding the nut with a socket. Pumped loads of black silicon from Granville over nut head and smoothed of with a slim piece of old wood. Still as good as new. One of the rivnuts failed so I fitted a new one for the bracket. Replaced bolt with a stainless one.
