I have a Brocock Compatto mk2 .22 (full power here in Belgium)
Owned by daystate so mag and trigger are much alike. Combined with a silencer and JSB exact heavy very accurate and silent. No problems so far 👍. |

Got a small issue with rats at the moment, our garden backs onto farmland and they seem to be moving our way. We've seen a few under the decking. Quite brazen, with the Mrs and I sat about 15m from them with 2 dogs they still came out for a rummage
So I'm looking for something cheap and cheerful to suppress them. Is this suitable? http://www.molevalleyfarmers.com/mvf/store...rifle-pack I don't want/need to spend a fortune but want something capable of killing rats at appox 15-20m range. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

Leave a light on for a few nights before you start shooting and liquidise some cat or dog food as that will keep the rats in place as they lick it up so you can shoot them.
If you put anything with lumps in they will just scarper with it. If you want some tips, watch some of my vids, lol. |

Can you still own an air pistol in the UK, such as a Webley Senior etc,...you guys are probably too young to remember that particular pistol, but it was a beautifully made British made air pistol....it was made in both .22 & .177.

Thats all it needs to be. Not going to use it for anything else. Need it to work on the rats and thats it. No point in spending huge sums of money on something that will only be used occasionally. A neighbour has an air rifle that he's said I can borrow but it has no scope on it, and knowing my shooting I wouldn't hit a thing without a scope 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

What's causing the rats to be there in the first place? They only tend to live somewhere if there's food... remove the food and they'll move on (obviously a lead enema would also help!)
If you can keep the dogs away then poison might be the better option as they'll take it back to the nest and kill (hopefully) the rest. |

You def need a scope.... joking aside 15m youd be better off without a scope .
Poison would be my first choice. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

The reason for the rats this year is due to the farmer in the field next to ours. When they harvested the maize last year, they had the tractor/trailer onto the field to crossdeck from the harvester. This year due to the pants conditions they crossdecked at the entrance to the field which is at the bottom of our garden. And they spilt approx 100kg of grain in the gateway.
I thought nothing of it and ignored it. The other side of the gateway is a stables. I spoke to him and the corner of his field nearest my garden, the hedge is now teeming with rats, seems they've moved there with a huge food stock available. And now moving out from there into our garden. The decking is at the bottom of our garden and about 25-30m away. Spoke more to the neighbour about borrowing his air rifle, hes a retired Lt Col, so that sort of gives you an indication of his age, his rifle was a gift for his 10th birthday. Not sure how good it will be after all this time. So I called Mole Valley in Frome, closest store to me, no stock of the air rifle I was after. Nearest stock is in Bridewater, which is 25miles from me. Now would this be classed as essential travel? Bair is not an option due to the dogs having free run of the garden and i don't think bait boxes would be of any use 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

Had an Air-Arms S410 Carbine in .22 initially at 12ftlbs and was a superbly accurate hole puncher, good on pigeons, squirrels, rats and rabbits. Then upgraded to the S410 Xtra FAC level one (35ftlbs) and that was superb as well, as good as the Carbine but effectively double the range.
You also had the ability to quickly knock down the output power through a knob on the side of the rifle, very handy for shooting inside asbestos or slate roofed barns as it minimised the chances of punching a hole through. Think it went down to 6ftlbs and then up to 35. The only downside was it was a fairly long rifle and not that easy to freehold standing up. Now I've moved back down to Wales I'm really regretting selling it a few years ago as I wasn't using it. Now seriously considering getting another Air Arms and sorely tempted by their new Ultimate Sporter XS but the Air Arms kit have gone up in price a fair chunk from when I last bought one. At £1200 ish the air arm looks nice but not in my price range to plink a few rats.
Had the Devizes store call me back, They have a Webley classic Quantum in stock, silencer and scope for £200ish. So I might go there as it's closer than the other shop. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |
