Immobiliser woes? Engine won't start - What should I check?
Hi
Some advice please.
I have a 2007 Tdci 2.4 with Central locking & two alarm fobs.

The vehicle battery is 18 months old.
Last week I went to move the vehicle which I hadn't used for about 3 weeks & it wouldn't start so I recharged battery & moved it out the garage - left it running for 5 mins & switched off to do my jobs.
One of the jobs entailed disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
Once completed I went to start it & it wouldn't start & alarm sounded.
Tried a number of times & I thought the battery had gone down again.
I recharged it overnight. I also changed the battery in the alarm fob.

The alarm fob does not unlock/lock the vehicle. The alarm/immobilise lights are not illuminated at all.

So far I have tried pressing the fob repeatedly , I have disconnected battery & left off for 1/2hr. I have tried touching +ive to -ive terminals to "re-set" ; all to no avail.

I have read through various posts here. I don't have a Nanocom.

I have checked fuses & all appear to be in order.
What's my next move please?

Cheers

Issue resolved !

Fuse 1 had blown & it blew again - not sure why. I replaced it & starting checking door switches. I then decided to RTFM & then applied some logic I have the alarm /immobiliser & C/L all working and the vehicle runs Very Happy

No where to go/not allowed to go anywhere. Still at least I can move it out of the yard.
Stay safe folks

Unfortunately l spoke too soon.
I replaced the 20 amp fuse in position 1 under the driver’s seat.( marked central locking).
I have Mazda seats in my 90 so not exactly a 2 minute job to access the fuse box.
Then reset alarm & tested - everything ok.
Put seats back in / quick test & drove up my drive & then put back in garage; reset alarm & it popped the fuse, alarm goes off & it won’t start Big Cry

What l don’t understand is that l didn’t do anything anywhere near the C/L When l did the few jobs the other day.
I can only assume that there is a short somewhere in the C/L circuit which is causing the problem.
Any known areas where l should start looking?
Thanks

If it was cl surely it would just not lock that door with failed wiring. Cheers

You mean Fuse 7 feeds the battery voltage input pin 25 gray plug on the alarm unit

also feeds door locking output on the alarm unit green plug pin 3-2

Good place to start Central locking wiring

Id start with door to a pliller rubber and wiring

Thanks for everyones input so far.
I am confused about FUSE 7.

I have 2 x fuse locations in my 2007 90.
One under the steering column & one under the driver’s seat.

Under the driver’s seat there is a 20 amp fuse in the first position ; it is marked C/L ( nothing else) this is the fuse that blows.
There is no reference to fuse 7.
What am l missing?

I will have another good look in the next few days to try & solve this
Thanks

Hi
Thanks Dorset.
I now understand
It is Fuse 7 that blows.
So l need to trace where the wiring goes to that fuse.......

Thanks

I had a similar problem when the battery died on my puma. Tried to start it after charging the battery but it wouldn't crank or lock/unlock from the fob. Had a blown fuse, can't remember which, replaced it and still no joy. Had to get a bloke out to reprogram the 10AS unit as its all too common for it to loose its coding...

Finchy - I had the same problem. Problem was I was in a psychiatric hospital car park and everything I tried set the alarm off. Eventually, I was politely asked to have it towed Embarassed Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
