My 1992 200 tdi 110 left Solihull as a pick up. I bought it in 1996 and had it converted into a 9 seat station wagon. I do not think projects like this will be possible with the new Defender.. Will the new Defender have removable seat bases? Have not seen this in the advertising blurb. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I don't know why some people believe you need air suspension at extended settings for higher speed offroad. If standard clearance is not enough at, lets say 50km plus then I guess you are going probably too quick for your own good. I found the air suspension picks it up on its own if extended travel is required most the time. We drove through the Flinders National Park just a few months ago with the 2018 Sport and it just showed again how good it all works, but interesting enough I hear the same air suspension comments since I bought my first EAS RR in 93, mainly from people who never owned one. m |

interesting, i have had air compressor failure in my 2007 L320 RRS but it kept the vehicle at normal ride height and no speed restrictions.. If you go bush you can just add a cheap emergency air up system (EAS) that enables you to raise the vehicle with a standard air compressor and get you to the nearest service centre (even if it is 1000K's over rough terrain), quite a few people use these in Australia when they do some pretty long outback tours (months) in their modern Landies yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

..i think issue is when air suspension bag/hoses/valves goes bad..air compressor may stall, but you still have air tank and if airbags and hoses doesnt leak, car will not drop quickly..

The issues with my dads old l322 were the ride height sensors especially if the car hadn’t moved for a while. He used to unplug them and exercise them then reset the message and it would be ok after that. The first couple of times were a bit of a panic though

Was always coming back to both of my RRS to find one corner or another had slumped, making the thing look very broken until you started the engine and let the thing reset itself. There was also a very common issue with the compressor, an expensive fix at the main dealer as it wasn't a serviceable part, but later there was someone who had done some digging and offered service/repair kits.

Thats exactly how it looked for me when i got P38..then i removed valve block (car air suspension was broken when i got it), disassemble whole thing and quickly learn, its as simple as putting few lego blocks next to each other with some ring seals (which were rotten, hence leaks) in between. Fixed it, sealed with seals used on oil and gas compressor pumps inlets, and it never failed again, ever since(10 years+)..its very very simple system...what i think is wrong with air suspension offroad is, some tree, small rock or whatever, hit your air hose, or cut in to air suspension bag and car goes down in no time, hopefully without hitting anything under it and causing more damage..

$19.95 on ebay for a compressor repair kit.. bargain and far cheaper than a new compressor if you can avoid it. yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

Same with the variable vane turbo tech. If you got a sticking actuator then the answer from JLR was you needed a new turbo ~ fine in a sense whilst under warranty, both from the perspective of cost to the owner and also the engineers wanting the whole units returned for examination/investigation but this situation continued well after warranty expired on the new models.

Far fewer problems With air suspension now with L405 and L494 (and I assume Discovery 5) as the suspension compressor is now in the spare wheel well inside the car - the full sized spare sits over it but it’s a pain to get the battery out as it is also back there now. I assume that the lessons have been learned and New Defender has the compressor inside the car as well.
