So in the Spirit of this thread mines 10 years old (end of this year)
I've owned it for 7 years and done 36 of its 42K mileage. Problems X1 Breather Pipe X1 Wheel Bearing X1 Ignition Barrel X1 Indicator Bulb X1 Gearbox Rubber Mount Periodic MAF Fault Code warning (proper cleaning fluid looks to have sorted) Main Jobs done (some OCD / some learning curve) Fixed Problems listed above All Wheel Bearings repacked X1 New Starter Motor (ref mis-diagnosed Ignition Barrel) X1 New Battery (ref mis-diagnosed Ignition Barrel) X1 Dinitrol Treatment (follow up refresh treatment this year) X12 Services (2 of which were all oils change) X? 2013 110 usw Purchased at 30k miles in May 2015
Problems Warranty 1xclutch & shaft. Fuel breathers Intercooler hoses x3 Cylinder head (replaced under warranty in error It took three months it was a split intercooler) Fuel pump (broken when head was off) Leaking timing chain cover (head again) Intercooler replaced All servicing done by me even in warranty All fluids replaced by myself at purchase Now outside warranty Dinitroled All servicing done by me oils when required. New drive members New discs and pads all round New nsf stub axel (Damaged thread) Fixed wiper relay by hitting it on gear stick Painted corroded mirror arms , bumper , crossmember side steps mudflap brackets |

mines 9 yrs old but low mileage owned from new, quite a few bits upgraded but the only parts replaced due to imminent failure under warranty at 4 years old are the clutch (rattling) and transfer shaft (excessive play) both known puma weak points. The only part replaced due to failure was the battery but this was because of my intermittent use and being too lazy to put it on a trickle charger. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Oh dear, my list may be a littler longer but the defender gets worked HARD!!
New engine at 77k now on 105 New wheel bearings all round twice 2 ujs New brake pads twice and discs once New drive flanges twice One rear half shaft One calliper One turbo prior to engine change Expansion tank replaced Transfer box intermediate shaft Ashcroft output shaft fitted while transfer box out Diff lock switch All in 5 years of ownership Hold my beer and watch this! |
