If you are fitting steels throughout the winter make sure you have coated them in some kind of protective layer otherwise they will start rusting from the outset, especially around the nuts - Alloys are much better for withstanding salty roads and they deteriorate less visibly than steels

That's a good point. Perhaps I should get new black alloys for summer (it's Java Black) and use the Boosts for winter!

There are a multitude of suppliers/styles/costs....You could if you wish sell your boosts and get a decent set of steels for all round year use that will enhance the appearance of your vehicle. Depends how much you want to pay....
Not necessarily...bare steel certainly...With a decent powdercoat they are as resilient as alloys....mine have been on for two harsh Winters and are just fine with no signs of deterioration...Easier to clean too! Modulars.....Picture courtesy of Fekete...  Same rolling radius as Boosts on standard tyres....Steel too!...marine grade stainless nuts to prevent corrosion...Sorry for posting Disco.... Steels way better than Alloy for Winter Tyres etc Look at what Europe runs on
Yes they Rust but Alloys fair worse IMO Mines on Mach 5 & DuraTrac's for this winter |

I stand corrected
 My experience has been from LR standard white steel wheels - brown with rust after one winter, again as with all the metals LR paint they don't seem to prime the metal properly  I didn't think about proper modern style finished steel wheels |

Zag Winter Road treatments are not nice whatever I think of Steels as somewhat cheaper than than Alloys (Save for Mach 5)
Oh I have five Brand new Modulars 16 x 8J in Black going on the bay soon (Back up if the Mach 5's did not arrive) |

Thanks for the replies. I've found the Mach 5 site and Duratrac tyres, but what combination would I need to end up with the same rolling radius? Sorry - bit of a numpty about this sort of thing.

I,ve have black Modulars on for over 2 years no rust
Still dreaming of Mach 5s after seeing them on Mals Landy

I Like Might look into getting some narrower ones eventually for winter. My LR dual alloy jobbies are going to last five minutes in the winter  Could be a call to Ken at some point  |

The last set of Modulars I had were silver ones I put on the 130 I had and that was used and stood out 24/7 for several years without any signs of corrosion at all. That said I did run a bead of Waxoyl around the welds and join whe they were new.
I'm planning to get to get hold of a set of new take off Wolf rims in the near future. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
