The version behind the black Bronco is another with the roof off showing the roll over protection so they are going ahead with removable panels and a soft top version.
Big mirrors is a Ford US thing, think the F series trucks. Liking the proper wheels and tyre size of the silver / grey version. Anyone notice the moulding on the front edges of the bonnet (hood). Could they be attachment points for limb rises? TFL has speculated that the front end has a proper bumper which means it could be changed for something more purposeful. I think that it looks good. Chunky and adaptable.....I wonder who else could have made such a vehicle if the engineers built the thing....  |

Well JLR's loss will be Jeep's/Ford's/Ineos' gain as far as I can see. All three must think there is still a market for a 21st century utilitarian ladder chassis, solid axle based 4x4. Time will tell how many new Defenders are built and how successful they will be. I suspect JLR can only dream about the volume of Broncos, Wranglers and Gladiators that will be sold. I bet if JLR had produced something similar and built it cost effectively then they could have done really well in the massive USA market and elsewhere. Instead they have taken a different road. |

JLR have taken the New Defender into the over saturated SUV market. Ford can afford to take on the Jeep both in off-road, overlanding, and cool street cred with the Bronco because they already have a great market share where it really matters and that is the pick up market. JLR has a one trick pony, and if it falls because the market it is depending on wants bigger tyres and a solid rear axle they have lost before they have started. I know that JLR have said a bigger towing capacity, hence bigger brakes mean bigger wheels, skinny tyres you can’t air down. But they just don’t get it. If someone needs to tow a heavy load in the US, they just buy a pickup truck, Even if it is a second hand one. I was amazed once in the US when I saw an F 250 with a goose neck RV/caravan in tow and attached to that was a trailer with a side by side on it...... Recently Chevy has updated the Yukon. This is a true (adult) seven seater with a boot space the average person can lay down in. It will also be available in a more off-road enhanced version. The recent Tasman blue 110 shown on an American You Tube channel had 7 seats, the last two for kids only and NO boot space. Are they clutching at straws because the 130 (full seven seats, still no boot space) won’t be available for the foreseeable future. O hum...  |

I have to say that is a seriously good looking vehicle. Jeeps were everywhere in California. We rented one and it was great fun. Felt so much like a Landy that I kept trying to press things in the wrong places. There’s very obviously a market for this kind of thing and it seems Ford sees it. I feel in years to come we will look back on the decisions JLR has made and shake our heads at how shortsighted they have been. Another example of a British car manufacturer not recognising the value in what they have. |

That is looking quite good to be honest, much more akin to what the you know what SHOULD have been.
The Defender in Fords hands was good, the commercial side at least. After that it's gone downhill ever since. We will have to see, I'm very happy with what I have though.  ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

I'm starting to think things would have been very different had ford remained in charge. The new Bronco likely has nothing in common with the original models (which predated and influenced the Range Rover by the way) but still manages to obviously be what it is. Take the name off and you still know what it is. I'm sure it will do very well indeed. 2011 110 USW

So much for the "One Ford" for the global market slogan.
We, and the whole of Europe, miss out on all the best models. Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer and F150. Instead we get the Fiesta based Puma and an electric softroad Mustang. 
Ford have just been added to the list of manufacturers I won't be buying vehicles from. |

This is areal shame and seems to follow what GMC started, which is that the right hand drive market is not cost effective.
The Ram truck is available in Australia but only because it on import goes via an approved company that makes the changes to right hand drive. Cant see that happening here. The Broncho according to TFL has been seen with a manual 6 speed option that includes (as a separate gear) a crawler gear under the reverse and not just a low first gear. It will also be available with front and rear lockers. Does seem odd that the original Ford sales target for the Bronco globally was 200k units, guess that's changed. I've always liked the Explorer on my few trips to the US and always thought that it was more of an attractive vehicle in comparison to the D5. Does kind of make you wonder if they have some form of historical deal with JLR not to attack them on their home soil. Our loss unfortunately, especially as the full size Bronco is to be an off roader to take on the Jeep Wrangler.... |
