Try with fuel cap removed in case of air lock.
How does pump and fuel sound during priming procedure? |

check wiring and plug to the sensor also |

I'd say you've dodged a bullet to be honest.
I had a similar issue which turned out to be the ECU. New CPS = £35, ECU rebuilt = £350 We changed my CPS as a precautionary measure as we thought it might be the issue and it was covered in both oil and fuel from a leaky FPR. CPS is relatively easy to change, though a bit of a to locate: Looking at the bellhousing from the offside wing nearest the windscreen it's at about 11pm. |

Just for info - to test run TD5 engine, you can use any TD5 engine ECU, you just need to pair it with imobilizer (10AS) in car, and probably set the right type of fuel pedal, to be able to increase engine RPM. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
