Interesting that it didn’t start to float/drift away in such deep water and strong current, since it has lightweight aluminium body that doesn’t leak...
And I’m not sure how much Mr. Agnew would be forthcoming regarding electronics malfunction on this trip (if there were any to begin with ) |

No wonder JLR’s profits are down with the amount of travelling Mr Agnew does - half term week snowboarding in France in his free Defender this week desert safari in Namibia, not to mention spreading all those viruses...... I wonder if the defender is like the disco with special compartments in sills that fill up to weigh it down for wading? Was on a factory tour and was shown how it works on a disco sport cutaway was quite clever how it fills then auto drains at speed when out even had foam baffles. The disco then goes into super extended mode to try and keep its feet on the ground. Will be great to see if they have advanced that kind of tech in the defender. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

So looks like in off-road mode judging by the wheel water depth you have about Half a wheel height before it touches sills.

@supacat not sure I have read it anywhere caught me by surprise on the tour and we spent 5 mins on it he said if you hit water fast and start floating don’t panic pause and wait for the cavity to fill and hopefully get the wheels on the ground. Cars with air suspension will go into super extended mode if they sense multiple wheels off the ground you can’t drive at speed it’s purely to get you back on the ground
Quickest pic of super extended I could see 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

Yes it is a proper feature but not user selectable the car decides when to do it, you can trick it if you want to see it. Need to be careful it’s not meant for long distances as the joints are at extremes.
I Tricked the d5 by accident parking on an embankment it was really high 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |
