On the options list for the 90 it is listed as something like “ signature styling” - I can see it being one of the least opted options........ Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

It doesn’t restrict the passengers view on the 110 though. It’s not structural on the 90, it’s optional and I’m not sure why anyone would have it. |

I wonder if the conversation went something like this :
JLR test engineer : "Gerry, we've taken your design through to final prototyping and discovered that in a roll over the roof structure performs as well as the old Defender" Gerry : "Too late to redesign the structure now, we are already 10 years behind in getting this latest one out of the jelly mould. But I have a plan. Get a couple of strengthening beams and put them in the window area right where the rear passengers would look out. And to make it tidy, box the whole thing in and I'll call it signature styling" JLR test engineer : "But won't customers realise it's a bodge?" Gerry : "No, because we'll put a matching dummy version on the 90 so it looks like it was there by design" JLR test engineer : "But surely customers will see straight through that?" Gerry : "No, because the signature styling cladding will block their view of the strengthening beams " |

No one with sense would have it on the 90.
The reason (according to a rep on one of the viewings I went to) the 110s is structural isn’t because the car needs it but to cover the extra structures in that area behind it used for weight carrying accessory mounting. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

I've seen a picture from the inside of the 90 without the panel and there is a nice panoramic view very reminiscent of the original Range Rover Classic 2 door. I have no idea why JLR would put such a silly thing there to block the view out.
I like the 18" alloys shot - that's what I've ordered on my 110 along with the Duratrac off road tires, snorkel and roof rack. |

"With Land Rover experiencing unprecedented demand for Defender 110"
"Success story: Defender 110 orders have exceeded initial targets and customers have completed a record 1.21 million configurations on the Land Rover website" Is it smoke and mirrors with quoting online configurations rather than actual orders taken? Still being Coy on the actual figures, whilst initial targets were nowhere near the 100k per annum they want. The build your own link seems to take you to the 110 configurator? |
