I wonder what the fault was. I hope they didn't stiff you for a complete pump if it was just a VCV fault.

The VCV was replaced based on advice received in this forum but that did not fix the the issue. I would like to think they did not stiff me. However the problem for now seems too have been fixed.

Good news on both counts. It's rare for the pump to fail however, hence my observation.
