Yes it can because LR isn’t keeping at the forefront of technology - it isn’t providing the engines we need to have today and are loosing customers as a result. They have ignored falling quality control and reliability until it is almost too late, their answer when asked was that it is the customers fault, they don’t drive the vehicles properly etc etc and those Long time buying customers like me have walked away and are unlikely to return until things improve and the attitude of senior management in Gaydon changes and they realise that it is THEIR problem 99% of the time like poor quality components or poor paint finish or just misaligned panels but it’s never their fault. They are now paying the harsh price for that. The biggest error they have made is to not give the buyers what they want - D5 is an expensive sales disaster, Velar hasn’t exactly been a success and mechanical issues with the V6 Diesels and DFF/Oil dilution are all design issues fobbed off as :you’re not driving the car properly” you would never hear that from Porsche Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

So they only anticipated just over 500 pre-sales in 3 months? That seems extremely conservative! 2011 110 USW

Can you put a link up to the source for this, otherwise there really is no context for what it shows ~ is this just a regional market, UK, Australia...? |

Every council will be responsible for installing one of these on every BOAT they are responsible for: Click image to enlarge |

Do the orders count as confirmed yet? I though they were still just taking deposits. |

It appears to come from this:
Click image to enlarge From JLR's ROADSHOW INVESTOR PRESENTATION NOVEMBER 2019 https://www.jaguarlandrover.com/2016/repor...-downloads which then had the actual numbers taken off it and re-appeared as this with a longer timeline: Click image to enlarge From JLR's FY20 Q3 RESULTS PRESENTATION https://www.jaguarlandrover.com/2016/repor...-downloads Notice the difference between the two graphs? After 8 weeks it was 3,262, so on the 2nd graph that makes it about double that - say 6,500 "orders" not a great conversion rate from over 1m completed configurations...in fact I would think that it was a frightening low conversion rate. |

That chart could be read two ways:
‘New Defender’ customers Or New ‘Defender Customers’. Before anyone berates me, I clearly know which way round it is meant to be read, but the irony is not lost on me as to how many of these customers are in and of themselves, ‘new’ Defender owners. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I'd be interested to see a target published before any results were available. Very easy to beat a target declared after you've a month's sales.

True but there really must be something wrong with the figures ~ if 8 weeks into a new product launch you were forecasting 500 orders, then I think you'd cancel production. Has someone got the decimal place in the wrong place?
The pre~launch quote was 100,000 per annum, this figure being double the original 50,000 per annum JLR said they needed to make the model viable; and part justification for binning the old Defender at 20,000 plus per annum. |

The reason there is no link is that it’s a screen shot of my digital issue of Autocar, plus the article was about the new Range Rover and this was just a snippet at the bottom of the page with no additional info given. |

Surely you’re wrong Supacat. For JLR to remain broke, to be at risk of administration, to need to lay-off thousands of their work force, to be forced to relocate to cheaper labour markets, etc etc etc, they’ve got to keep getting their figures/targets/build costs entirely wrong. As such, it seems they’re on target, if you know what I mean... Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

90 not available to order yet and the full engine line up not available to order either. It May have a bearing on LRs over cautious figures.

What would you estimate the split between 110 & 90 to be; possibly even add the split between 110/90/130.
6,500 110 orders in 20 weeks does not seem right to me. Last edited by Supacat on 13th Feb 2020 1:06pm. Edited 1 time in total |

The 110 will take bulk of the orders, maybe 70/30.
