Not good news, and there's more to follow with current events in China yet to be factored in...

Oop North, I agree entirely having made the move to a PHEV in 2018 my next car will be a BEV, not a PHEV. Have you tried taking your iPace offroad? Last August I was taken on a dealer’s demo day out that started on a race track and ended up climbing up a mountain side on Some very muddy tracks on a big estate. I was amazed at well totally electric powerEd iPace handled it and how it suits offroad driving, in a car with no low ratio/transfer gear box but with some very clever traction control systems AND running 22” wheels with Road biased tyres - the car was equipped with air suspension but to go offroad in total silence is amazing - no scaring off the wild life too! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Trouble is, as I see it... you'd have to plan the off road work to where there was a 13a socket to plug in to....

And how would you power a winch to pull yourself out, on pure electric? Laughing

How many 290 mile offroad trips do you make in your Defender? The problem at the moment is trying to find a charger that a) is not ICEd by some idiot in a petrol or Diesel engined car who cannot read the signage b) finding a charger that isn’t already in use by another electric vehicle and c) trying to find a working/non-defective charger within the remaining range of your car. Carrying a portable generator around is not an option even in a purely offroad BEV but might need to be considered, but then there are not many suitably sized portable generators on the market! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Well..no surprise here..as i have said several times before, JLR do not want to make money..they just do not have the products or quality necessary to thrive. Which is craftsmanship of Ralph Speth's management. It was a nice clean chance to turn things around with new defender..but what they did?? Made it more complex and more expensive than ever without any link to its predecessors, except lettering.

So how they manage cost cutting?? Kill the manufacturing process/factory/dudes who works, instead of making vehicles which people want to buy and most importantly CAN buy without selling kidneys. Ralph Speth's lunacy in its finest..what a losers..

The Bolinger B1 is designed for an electric winch, but the obvious question is what happens to the range if you use it (I don't know if it uses an aux battery).

Is a 13A socket adequate for fast charging? Wouldn't that need something closer to a 30A?

I would expect for simplicity all accessories would run of the EVs standard 12v loom rather than the high voltage traction battery side, that circuit would be dedicated to the drive train only. It will ultimately take power from it as the high voltage side as it also charges the 12v battery in place of the alternator. Plus you don’t want to be asking the likes of Warn to build new winch models to run on such voltage. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

When I go for a laning day, it's usually at least 150 miles if I'm bimbling around Wiltshire. usually more. Quite often I'll park up and go for a walk as well, or enjoy the view with a flask, but i want to do that on a hillside, not parked in a garage forecourt next to a power point.

The advantages of a high voltage, low current winch, that doesn't drain and kill your 12v battery might be worth exploring in the future.
At the moment the market is virtually nonexistent, the voltage of BEV's is not commonised (I believe?) and there is no standard way to tap into the higher voltage power so that it doesn't upset the vehicle's control system.
If the manufacturers got together and sorted a standard for auxiliary power applications the possibilities could be very interesting.
Commercial, leisure, construction and emergency services could all find a use for it.

At the moment they're struggling to even get a standard charging solution up and running. Confused

JLR is back to making money, thanks largely to the new Evoque, the new Defender orders have far exceeded even Land Rovers expectations and that’s just for the 110, 90 order books haven’t opened yet.

I can only find figures showing a year on year 5.9% sales fall and nothing on new Defender.
