Mercedes SLK
My wife would like a Mercedes SLK, so have been looking at 2005 / 2006 auto 2nd generation models, with around 80 90K miles.
Not particularly worried about higher mileage, as she has other cars to use, so this one will only be used during the summer.

Has anybody had one, and what are your opinions, and is there anything I need to look out for?

Ideally would like one with heated seats and the air scarf, again what are peoples experiences with the air scarf system?

We have a 280 2009 car which has been faultless in 30k miles. We use it all year round with winter tyres on the appropriate months, still getting the top down if it is dry. You can run at motorway speeds with the top down and the heater up at temps below zero and it is quiet enough to have a normal conversation as well (quieter than a Defender). I know there was a potential issue with the V6 cars from around the age you are talking about but the engine numbers are well documented on slkworld.com which is by far the best forum. Any other questions pm me if you want.

Hello....

Well we had one of the first Mk1 back when they were launched, Black with red and black leather. It was great a 230 Kompressor. When it was new back then very few people had seen a solid hard top 'change' into a convertible Smile

Great fun...

Anyway, babies, kids, life etc happens....

However my wife has a 'big' Birthday and l bought a Mk2 ? model as a bit of fun.... As I will be using it I started looking at the SLK55... however the cars tend to be up on miles and many owners. So I then decided on the SLK350.

Like you heated seats are a must and the airscarf nice, Also command (although outdated) is handy and the upgraded sound system is good in a convertible..

So the hunt was on and I found this one..Miles away... right spec, lowish miles (40K) with a good selection of options :-

Silver
Blue leather seats
Heated Seats
Airscarf
Command
Harmon Kardon
6 CD
Auto
Xenon lights
wind deflector
Front / rear parking sensors

As its a present literately for her Birthday on the 9th Feb I will post some pictures after then Smile

As mentioned SLK world is a good forum and helpful people.

I've only Driven it a tiny bit as had it delivered on a transporter and then its been hidden.... However its nippy... I just googled it !!! Smile Thumbs Up

In Dec I bought a 1999 SLK 230k with 75k miles and fsh for Β£300. So far it has just had fuel in it. Everything works, the interior plastic is tatty and needs a repaint. Bodywork is a bit scruffy, but roof down in the sunshine and it’s all good.

Enjoy.
