Land Rover Comms & PR Director & Chassis Senior Manager at Jaguar Landrover. Odd thing about the 2nd bloke, despite his job he couldn't get the LEGO Defender model working properly ~ he had a knocking in the drive train and wasn't happy to just tell himself TADTS so, and I quote "With the help of this YouTube clip I found one of the universal joints was 90deg out. All fixed, now on with the body." Bodes well for the engineering on the real thing... |

You would think that the Director of Comms and PR at JLR would know better than to blab on the internet that he is getting an early (and free to him) new car (albeit a pre-production car) when there are a lot of full price paying customers out there patiently waiting to get theirs. I’m sure if any of the test staff blabbed on social media that they had a new model sat in front of their house before sales started they would be dismissed immediately. I hope some low-life comes along and tests the security system for JLR and it ends up out in Pakistan or Zimbabwe ........... what an idiot that guy must be. To be fair, and as you have pointed out, it is a pre~production model, so it's usages are probably very limited and it might even be classed as an extension of the vehicle test programme... at least for tax purposes
Someone has to do such work, and it's not a bad perk of the job, and you can't ever be criticised for being late to important internal meetings when the excuse is the company car wouldn't start/broke down. I'm more surprised he's photo'd it in front of a house, possibly his, with another vehicle clearly visible on the drive. |

If it’s like the d5 program the pre production ones can only be on the road until an exact date and then must be destroyed. Makes sense to maximise their usefulness. And if I were them I certainly wouldn’t let public or press have them for extended tests. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

I don’t object to him having a test car to run, but the fact that he is stupid enough to boast about it on social media - something his employees and junior staff are doubtless forbidden to do on threat of dismissal. He should keep his trap shut and not live a double standard that it’s ok for a director to boast he has an early car, but not for other staff to post photos and brag that they have a pre-production car sat at home as part of their work. On a slightly different note, has this been seen before out in the UK?
