Some news for the Range Rover!
The first bit of news is that it's going on it's first holiday since about 2002. Mrs Grafty and I are going to Padstow for a long weekend so preparations/checks have begun to make sure it gets us there and back (no, not a long range fuel tank ) The second bit of news is that I have found a pair of rare JE big bore manifolds. The ones on the right the JE ones. As you can see, they'll flow well They'll be going on soon with a fully custom exhaust made by me. I want to mimic the overfinch systems which came out in the standard location with 2 discreet downturned tips out of a double entry/exit silencer. Another update today. I got the new aluminium top tailgate painted gloss black today. Hopefully I'll get it fitted tomorrow
(the other things in the picture are the removable tow pack from my parents L322. They needed a freshen up and I had paint in the gun ) Click image to enlarge 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Great work!! Just read this whole thread as just started rebuilding me RRC myself Couple of questions if I may... You say you used buzzweld RRC for undercoating, is that this product; https://www.buzzweld.co.uk/rust-encapsulator.html
What product did you use for the black overcoat for chassic and axles? what is buzzweld CIO satin black? Sadly I have more body panels to replace as they have rusted through so going to get them in before I take the body off to help with lining it all up as it should be. Last question.. Did you strip everything out/off to take body off or leave doors on for example? Sorry to bombard you with questions! Your RRC lookings stunning and is a real example |

Thank you
I used buzzweld RCP but that has been superceded by RE. So yes, RE followed by CIO. I have most of the donor left as I've still got bits and bobs I want to pinch off it before it's scrapped. Rear quarter panels are still there and front wings. Rear doors are there, font doors aren't. If you need anything let me know as it'll be going soon 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

The road trip is going well! Mrs Grafty and I went to Lands End today to have a look around. The last time I was there was to set off on a bicycle to John 'o Groatsin 2008
So far the Range Rover has been perfect, smooth, quiet and wafty (and quick when the occasion calls) From Woolacombe, to lands end and the up to Newquay it averaged 12 mpg on LPG (its always uses more LPG that petrol for the same journey) which equates to 25 mpg on price. 290 miles later and we're back home! The Range Rover performed absolutely flawlessly and was an absolute pleasure. I still can't quite believe I pulled it out of a hedge a couple of years ago and am now going on holiday in it
Exhaust mods are next on the list, followed by full Superpro bushes and then a big list of security upgrades to bring it in line with the Defcon 1 status of the 90 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

My mum and dad have been there, a good few years ago now.
I do know the exact feeling grafty, When I put my rover metro GTA on the road. I took it down to Mallory park and then Silverstone for MG live, and then around Silverstone circuit. My dad was over the moon too, we were not sure how the car was going to perform. I think it was just as eco as my HDI was at the time, I should really dig some photos out for you. With the current situation I've now got a large chunk of time on my hands, so work on the exhaust has begun
For now, as I can't get materials, I'm going to mate the JE headers to the original performance Janspeed system that dad kept after the original headers failed in the early 2000s. Today I got the manifolds rubbed down and coated in high temperature paint and lacquer. The passenger side is now bolted into place, hopefully I'll get the drivers side on tomorrow. Click image to enlarge I sprayed a port on the old and 'new' manifolds to show the contrast in diameter. Imagine the volume difference across 8 cylinders Click image to enlarge 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Grafty,
Those manifold take me back, the Indy that looked after my RRC and still looks after the 110 had a set delivered to him by a customer for fitting to his RRC only for it to be in an accident resulting in it being written off. The customer didn't want them so they had been on the shelf for a couple of years. Long story short he fitted them to mine without telling me during a service, when I drove off I thought I had taken the wrong vehicle. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

That's a great story Do they make that much of a difference? They look like they will but it would be good to hear first hand experience, better overall? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I've started on the exhaust for the Range Rover over the Easter weekend. Still waiting on a couple of bits so trying to decide rear silencer/exit location.
What do you guys reckon? Descreet enough? (bear in mind it's a couple of feet in the air so things will be less visible when it's on the floor) Click image to enlarge 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton Last edited by grafty99 on 14th Apr 2020 8:48pm.
