I've had a few issues with my new fancy head unit. Firstly the model had a design flaw that took months to fix and then recently I've had a load of DAB radio interference from a dlr setup in a bumper.
When I rang the supplier of the bumper/drl's they said they'd sold hundreds to defenders and never had a problem. As the issue is relating to DAB radio they said most defender owners probably just use FM in the original radio. Hence the question. Feel free to add photos. New or old. For clarity I have a kenwood double din job (same as sold by Mudstuff) Use the standard antenna and a DAB splitter and have a set of upgraded Audison speakers in the dash and under the seats with a Hertz amp in the battery box. Sounds simply awesome. (When driving below 50mph ) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Last edited by PCM on 29th Jan 2020 11:19am. Edited 1 time in total |

Could do with a third option - Still have the factory fitted radio, would like a DAB one, but am getting conflicting views
Off topic a little, but both charging my iPhone and my Tom Tom sat nav, if mounted too close to the factory fit Kenwood can give horrendous interference. |

JVC M745DBT here -
1) Originally with LR aerial and Nakatanenga splitter (the one supplied with aerial) - Worked ok Fitted new DRL’s - awful reception in places - added RF chokes improved 2) Replaced JVC unit with later model - no benefit maybe worse 3) Disconnected DRLs and fitted Nakatanenga aerial - Better , still felt could be improved 4) Changed Nakatanenga splitter - Better still 5) RF chokes on all my lights - Pretty good now - not as good as out other cars but close |

Pioneer flip out head unit in mine. Fitted with the Nakatanenga DAB aerial and spliiter which feeds both FM and DAB.
DRL's in the front bumper from uproar4x4 fitted at a later date, zero issues on either front. Very happy with my setup Click image to enlarge |

I run everything off my phone so I have no need for DAB.

I have a pioneer flip up with focal speakers and a sub woofer. Sound is really good BUT the DAB cuts out when I switch on the LED headlights. Apparently some sort of interference. Headlamps are Thomas Performance.
