All, just by means of an update, in case you find yourselves in the same situation.
It would appear that if there is a short/break in any of the outputs, then Alpine systems go into a protection mode, my local ICE dealer explained and confirmed that was what mine was doing. I checked all the cables and finally located one of the connections in the main 16 pin ISO connector plugged into the back of the head unit was not making a good connection, once pushed fully home, the system came back on line..sounds restored.
