Great for more than demisting. They also keep the mirrors clear in the wet

I was going to ask that, I guess the warmth sheds the wet off a bit then.
Interesting you mentioned sharing the heated rear screen switch, I have that on mine but not a heated front screen. I found separate switches for wiring separately Here. Looks like an interesting mod for once that is useful and doesn't costs hundreds of £'s.

Had heated screen & mirrors on my 90 for nearly 20-years now.
The convenience of the heated screen needs no comment and the mirrors are the type of thing that you get so used to that when they stop working (turned out to be a dodgy earth) you really miss them. ONE LIFE, GET IT! |

Hi What happens if you accidentally break your mirror, can you peel off the element and stick it on the replacement  Clayton.

Well worth fitting. Relatively easy to peel off broken bits.

As above - the elements seemed quite tough so re fitting to a replacement mirror should be possible but they are relatively inexpensive. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Optimill mirror arms are brilliantly engineered and look the part, come pre-wires for heated mirrors. You do need to drill holes through your door for a neat install though.
Previous to these I modified my old arms, drilled through the ball joint the mirror head attaches too, then through the rotating part of the arm (the bit that allows you to fold them in)(note- done this way your mirrors won’t be able to fold in due to the cable, the cable would be trapped/cut if the mirrors folded) and out the bottom plastic cap, this then looped under the hinge and through a hole in the door. (I’ll try find some photos) Wires to my heated screen button via a relay. Work wonderfully on a frosty morning and in the wet spray. Very interesting.
The only trouble is you'd need to buy a lower hinge to match as well. 
Or can you buy the billet arms only to use with factory hinge? Regarding if the element got broken along with mirror glass, seeing as replacement elements on their own seems to be about £10 - £20 a pair I would see it as an easily replaceable part of needed. Roy - This is a long shot but do you know what current draw the mirror arm (lights).use for the pair? It must be somewhere under 1A I would have thought if they mimic the interior lighting. Glad I started this thread as there seems quite a lot of interest and useful info too. Not so good for the wallet though.  WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸

Heated mirrors with turn signal repeaters. Heating element takes 12W to get temp to 50°C.
