2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Cairns Blue

4G signal booster

In a few months time I will be spending sometime away in the caravan. The area I will be staying in has a weak signal coverage which can alter depending on which way the wind is blowing. It has ben suggested that I purchase a signal booster to mount on a pole and a router.

Has anyone had experience of doing this or can suggest what kit to go for preferably not expensive? Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to

us off.

Plenty of 4G "booster" modems out there ranging from £150 to £300 ish.

I've used a few 4G routers for remote CCTV installs, but fortunately enought they've all had reasonable 4G signal, so the standard router has done the job.

Not sure how good the "boosters" are, as they can only boost what poor signal there is there, so they could be boosting interference as well. although being digital hopefully there shouldn't be too much rubbish in with it.

I used a TPLink 4G router last week, with an Asda PAYG SIM (50p in the shop) and it worked a treat! just keep topping it up as needed.

We're in a "not spot" and dispensed with BT recently. We went all-4G wireless, ending up with this: -

Probably a bit OTT for your needs but we needed the ability to run an external antenna as we're in a bit of a valley. On our phones we barely get any kind of signal in the house but the router, with its external antenna gets an excellent signal, providing 15 - 20 Mbps via a Vodafone and a 3 service.

BT managed 3 Mbps at best, when it worked.

I have fitted a 4G aerial and WiFi unit to my motorhome. Fantastic bit of kit, I can run 10 devices off it and it gets full signal 4G, where without the aerial connected I ge zero signal on the same sim.

I run two phones, two iPads, and fire stick off it all over Europe, and so far always worked
