You’ll get one hundred opinions on good head units and there are many depending on your needs and budget. I use a Sony AXV-X100 which has been great and flawless for me. Two criticisms however; there’s no build in DAB on this model (others have it) and there’s no “night mode” to dim the big display for driving on dark motorways at night. Mind you, I can (and do) turn off the display so it goes totally black for those occasions so not so bad at all.

It’s super expensive though. Click image to enlarge |

Think ill try and buy a second hand original signal din panel and make my own! £150 for a little bit of plastic seems excessive

You'll be surprised how much genuine second hand single din ones go for - upwards of £200 on ebay - I have been looking for one for the last year or so - actually got one as BIN price for £25 0- but this was luck. They are also like hens teeth !! LR no longer have stock - went the Dan route through Duckworths - no joy! So the MUD price seems fair! Cheers

Seems extortionate to me. £30 to £40 would be more reasonable, even considering the development costs.

What you've got to remember is that this will always be a niche product. It's designed to fit a vehicle variant that was only made for eight years and ended nearly fifteen years ago. They're not going to shift thousands of these things and so the development costs needs to be re-couped over a very small production run. Darren

I’ve bought one and fitted it last weekend. I am very pleased with it. It is more Matt in colour and less textured than the original but you would only notice this if you had two sat next to each other. Yes, it is expensive for what it is but as has been said, development costs are high and the market small.
I have wanted double din ever since buying my td5 back in 2011 but disliked all other available solutions. When you have waited that long for a mod which has always been near or at the top of your list, and waited that long because it needs to be right, then for me at least, the price is justified 2002 110 td5 |

Same here, passenger seat won't go all the way forward, other than that not too bad. I going to put a plate on the cubby box to hold the tray down as it does lift up on its own though. Mike Hard Top 90 TD5 2001 Ford 100e 1959 www.youtube.com/mikemakesit |
