2014 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 HT Fuji White
Alarm keeps going off 2014 2.2 110 van
The standard LR alarm on my 2.2 2014 110 van keeps going off. It's not got central locking. I've had a good search on here and tried cleaning and putting WD40 on the little push switches on all three doors and the bonnet, but no luck.

Is there anything else I ought to be looking for please?

1.do you have internal movement sensor Question up on head liner driver side




this is activated 15 sec after the alarm set, had one that getting wet with condensation from roof and setting alarm off

2. also check key fob battery

3. check your starting battery voltage

A few points where I would start. Disconnect internal sensor, just pull wires out of it, and test if alarm goes off, but starter would be to bypass the bonnet switch and see if that cures it.

Thanks very much folks. It was fine until yesterday afternoon, and I do get lots of condensation on the roof, so I'll check those things and report back.

Famous last words, but the sensor in the cab had condensation on its lead and into the socket. A quick squirt of Bilt Hamber's Ferrosol and it's been all quiet since about 2.30pm, so I think that was it.

Fingers now crossed....

You can just leave the wires out of it if you require a longer test. The alarm still works with it disconnected.

Incidentally, if it is the bonnet switch (and the gaiter on mine has disintegrated, so it could be), is there any benefit to sticking with the genuine LR one (AMR2022) or are the pattern ones okay?

Just a quick update to say investigations are ongoing, but I've had to leave the alarm off for the last few days just in case it goes off overnight.

Would simply unplugging the under bonnet sensor still leave the alarm working? I checked it with my multi-meter (far too high tech for a plumber...) and it seems to be making and breaking reliably.

I'm also interested to know what effect both a low vehicle battery and a low key fob battery could have. Please be gentle, I'm VERY thick when it comes to electrics!

A low vehicle battery could trigger the BBUS , if fitted. It's a siren sound as opposed the main alarm that uses the horn, so it's easy to tell the difference. Darren

You can’t just disconnect the bonnet switch. You would need to disconnect it and then bypass it by joining the two wire/terminals on the vehicle loom.

Thanks chaps. I think the main battery is probably okay then as it's certainly the horn sounding. I suspected I would need to actually bypass the bonnet switch.

Any thoughts on what a low key fob battery will do please?
