Might need some gasket sealant to put it back in. Can't remember off the top of my head. Ed

Well I didn’t have time to remove the PTO cover but I did swap over all four wheels and tyres for some 7.50 Michelin’s , they look extremely small compared to the MTR’s and it feels very different but hasn’t made the slightest difference to the vibrations .
Interestingly I had a friends mint double cab which drives beautifully up here yesterday, so popped it up on axle stands to compare it. 1.All four wheels DO spin very freely and continue to do so long after you remove the force , so I imagine this is how it should be . Also light scuffing of brake pads on rotation. 2.The diff lock lever was very light compared to mine , just slotted in and out , mine requires a lot more pressure. 3. The transfer box was so much less tight , you could EASILY spin the propshafts by hand , together and in a counter rotation against each other . Mine requires a firm grip and is almost not possible without two hands. As the transfer box and output shaft were replaced after the vibrations began I can only believe the issue MUST be forward of the Box . Something isn’t releasing properly or is bent causing unnecessary friction . I’m dropping it off today with Highlanes , a Landrover specialist , really hoping they can get to the bottom of it without replacing everything I already have ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

No sadly not . I’ve given up so gave to our local Land Rover specialist . They’ve had it for 3 weeks now and can’t find the problem , although they acknowledge there is one ...! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

How have you phased your props?
I believe the front is 30 degrees offset and the rear is in phase. |

I haven’t touched the phasing of the props , they were brand new from Gwyn Lewis .
The old props do it as well . Also we’ve discovered the issue becomes far worse as the car warms up, after 8-10 miles it’s undriveable and smells very hot . The drivetrain up to the transfer box has now been totally eliminated from the list. We swapped all components with another 110 last week . It’s either the transfer box , gearbox , clutch or engine ! We’ll get there I’m sure but it’s got everyone baffled https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

If it smells hot, surely it can only be to do with the clutch or the handbrake 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

We’ve overhauled the handbrake drum , it wasn’t really a suspect as it was cold to the touch after a drive.
JST , indeed it has a new transfer box , what I meant to say is we swapped everything up to the transfer box with another 110’s . I’m not going to discount the T-Box just yet , however unlikely ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

L110 , that is exactly what I’ve thought along but brakes are fine and clutch is 8,000 miles old.
Pulling the clutch is next on the list . I had a waft of burning clutch once a few weeks ago but as someone pointed out it could’ve been someone else’s . The hot smell after a drive is not a slipping clutch smell , just hot metal and transfer box / bellhousing is very hot to the touch https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Glad that the handbrake is ruled out
That does not sound good with the metal being hot to touch, hope that when you pull it apart that the problem will show it's self 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |
