Testing of 300Tdi injectors
Hi.
Can anyone help me with more information about the testing of the 300Tdi injectors.
I might have the equipment, old injector tester, and clean environment to do this but need to know if it's doable for non-bocsh people.

Injector pressures are given in the workshop manual:

The main thing with them is that they all crack off at a similar pressure (better to have them even and low or high rather than uneven across the board) and you get a nice clean jet coming out of all four orifices (I think it's four, can't quite remember).

A friend in Surrey had a manual tester for them and I was amazed at how simple the job actually was, we were also able to put through a lot more diesel than would normally be given by an injector pump which helped clear out the nozzles from build up. Ed

It's the primary and secondary pressure that is worrying me, not sure how to do this.

My tester can go to 600 bar but it's fully manual, like one lever.

I have a Hartridge Testmaster 2 computerised tester, which was over £5000 new, and even that cannot test 300tdi injectors fully without a secondary pressure add on at another couple of thousand pounds.

With a standard tester like the hartridge you can still test the primary pressure, spray pattern and leak back time, so it gives you a pretty good idea of injector performance. I have found that stripping the injectors down and cleaning them / ultrasonically cleaning the nozzles and reassembling can cure a poorly performing 300tdi injector.

300tdi injectors have five ports, and not quite evenly spaced around the nozzle,

Thanks for your reply. Not the answer I wanted to hear but the answer I was expecting.

I didn't think it was going to be that easy to test them.
