Reverse Cam Cable Routing
Hello folks,

I'm planning to install a new head unit that incorporates a screen that can take a feed from a reversing camera. The cable from the camera can be easily routed around the inside of the roof and down one of the A pillars but I'm not sure where to go from there. I haven't had the need to dismantle a Puma dashboard yet so I wonder if anybody has any ideas on how to get from an A pillar to the head unit? How much do I need to dismantle to find a route through?

Any pointers (or pictures!) would be much appreciated. Darren

Youโ€™ll find the passenger side easier, if possible but the drivers side can be done.

Remove speaker and open access flap below dash. Ideally centre dash removed too IF needed. No more dash removal needed.

If you donโ€™t have them already, IF you have a need for extra A Pillar room.
Take a look at the ones Mud UK make which are deeper for more room.

You might be able to get away with leaving centre dash / HU cage in place depending on how much stuff you have behind there.

Passenger side has more room, and more convenient to access. No Guts, No Glory.

Ah ok, thanks. That all sounds more straightforward than I thought it might be.

I had a pair of those MUD A pillar trims in my hand at the Peterborough show but decided against them. Obviously wish I hadn't now Rolling Eyes Darren

They are good, but depends if you need them or not.

What sort of dia cables are you thinking of fitting?
You can probably get away with one or two 4mm max, but beyond that then the Mud trims come into their own.
IIRC, they give you around 10mm extra more than enough.
In my case I had plenty of wiring behind there already at max capacity on standard trims.

I had a 6mm RCA and other wires to fit as well and the Mud trims accepted that with ease.

If you'd like any fitted pics, if you can't find any already on here give me a shout as I could easily snap a couple of pics tomorrow anyway as I'll be working on my 90 tomorrow.

I'm not sure, off hand. It'll be a standard video cable, the sort with a yellow RCA plug on. It'll probably fit, to be honest. I just need to make sure it doesn't clash with the rear washer pipe. Darren

You might find the other side from the washer fluid pipe there may just be room.
The tricky parts is avoiding crushing anything.

Good luck. Thumbs Up No Guts, No Glory.

Hi
I managed to get two cables down that route, a bit tight but they fitted. Not clear shots but you get the idea

Ah, excellent, thank you. I also plan to install a very similar camera in that position, too. Darren
