Diff pinion seals
My diff pinion seal is leaking (1989 Ninety, might be disco 1 front axle) and I am confusing myself which seal I should buy.
I think I should have flange kit STC4858 (round flange) but they have the square flange fitted (STC3722).
Would I be better off buying the whole kit (stc3722) and replacing everything rather than just the seal, if I did just replace the seal what part number would it be?
Thanks in advance. BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

If it has a fair few miles on it And the breather is not blocked then I would do flange and seal. If breather is found to be blocked just do seal. If flame comes out unsecured then you may get away with just a seal. Impact gun is beneficial for this job. Cheers

I replaced seals only, sanded down flange seal area but they still leaked.

I then bought a kit flange n seal and all has been well since.

So my 2p is to be done with it properly, buy the kit

Thanks for the replies. I have identified the correct seal and have decided to change just the seals and see how it goes. BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group
