Is there more clearance if you move the lever but if IIRC its top off box only a few bolts so quick and easy.

Cheers fella, moving the lever didn't help. Will there be a gasket to replace if I whip the top off?

Yes gasket there, down to luck if it gets damaged removing cover, never replaced one yet, dab of hylomar and normally ok as not immersed in oil only splash lubed.

Perfect, thanks again. luckily I can take off the bits I need from my other block. Looks like the position of the connector at the other end of the rod was wrong which might have been putting undue pressure on the yoke.
