Juicy? yes
I've used half a tank on a trial doing 6 miles To counter that, I've had 140miles out of a tank on a motorway run. 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |

The rear has now been stripped and refitted with foam and carpet, along with a new rubber floor mat.
Overall a huge improvement and a much more civilised drive - I can actually enjoy the sound of the engine now. ![]() Click image to enlarge 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |

After some time it's another update.....
From the exhaust thread, I now have a pair of 'twin port' manifolds on it connected to late Range Rover down pipes and Y piece into a TD5 exhaust. The comment has been made 'how do you make a diesel exhaust sound good?' - connect it to a V8..... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge There was a bit of fettling to be done to get it to fit properly and there's still a hanger missing to finish it ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge I then had a sudden alternator failure which meant my first recovery ![]() Click image to enlarge I'm sure it was because I'd found a 3.9 to rebuild ![]() Click image to enlarge Then there's the Bilsteins - kindly donated by DAZ100 they've finally been fitted, not just because the cheap sh*t BritPart dampers that had been fitted to pass the MoT in February had given up the ghost, but because I did want that 'planted' feeling that quality products give. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge So it's sounding better, riding better and just needs the carbs tickling to bring out the best in it - I can now sustain fifth gear on the motorway and I think a tweak from an expert will help. I'll be calling NovaTech in Slough tomorrow. 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |

Well, struggling to find someone to tweak the carbs - Novatech's phones isn't working and they aren't answering emails.
Just been out for a play in the mud at Aldermaston and the oil pressure switch has failed - leaking through the middle of it and just pi**ing out. I've ordered two new ones ands will keep one as a spare with the fan belts. 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |

In an effort to stem the seemingly endless drips of oil I re-seated the new pressure switch. What a mistake that was, on an alloy boss.
It appears that there had been a crack in the boss all the time, which had been a slow leak until I exerted my considerable spanner skills, and killed the thing completely. A new plate was stolen from the 3.9 which is currently being rebuilt and fitted. ![]() Click image to enlarge At the risk of the 'kiss of death' that seems to have stemed the tide of Castrol's finest. I can now park on the drive without having to put a drip tray underneath. That won't last long...... Other news is we're planning a trip to the Pyrenees next summer. If anyone has any useful info, maps etc for the smugglers trails I'd be most grateful if you could send it on. I'm also looking for another V8 front cover to go onto then new 3.9 build. 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |

Good progress, hope the trip plan goes well. There’s a few on her who’ve been many times... put up a separate ‘help’ post in expedition section.

Definitely!!
I'm still looking for someone to tune the SUs on the V8 - NovaTech has closed down and they came highly recommended. The only other one I've had in the area is Tom Airey, but my perception is that he focuses on performance engines (race & rally cars) and charged accoerdingly. If anyone has any suggestions for carb experts in the Surrey/berkshire/hampshire area please let me know ![]() |

Having a bit of a January clear out - there's the whole collection of wheels and tyres in the for sale section.
Then, there's the latest purchase to come ![]() |
