New battery
I think my battery could do with changing shortly due to age, the signs are just beginning to show after almost ten years. Shocked
(In the colder weather as expected.)

I was looking at the Exide EA1000. (I think this was the model no.)
According to some web sites I've been on it shows it will fit a 2.4 Puma.

Does anyone have one? Also, being a wet battery how does the venting system work?
(I know how the venting system works, and its purpose but the change of battery may make a difference to this and the vent tube.
Looking at the battery specs the CCA and AH capacity is an upgrade over standard.

Any views appreciated. Thumbs Up

Hi Steve, have a look on Tayna Batteries. They list the batteries suitable for your defender. I went for a yuasa ybx5019. Good prices too Thumbs Up

I think that was the site I was looking at at the time. Thumbs Up

Later edited**
Just used the REG search on their site, and they produce the dimensions of the battery.
(I haven't checked my own yet which I will. I imagine it's accurate).

Except for 1mm the dimensions appear to be the same.

Shall have to add that to the list I think. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I may well actually go for that one mentioned above compared to the Exide. Specs are the same.

Thanks Williamthedog. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I fitted an EA1000 this summer...... its a very good battery.
The battery I had in previously had a vent pipe (which I think is standard) and I just moved it across to the new battery.

I ordered from Tayna.....arrived next day at very competitive price

I have a 2.4 puma

good luck

Rob

Thumbs Up

The reason why I'm chopping and changing which one I was looking at is where they are manufactured.

Exide I believe is a US firm, but likely made in Europe for that branch for the U.K.

Yuasa I think appears to be Japanese but has a hi tech manufacturing plant in made Wales.
The extra specs CCA & AH gain seems good.
So I am leaning towards the YUASA YBX5019.

Very Happy $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

My 2008 has the original Varta battery so I will probably go for the Varta

Blue Dynamic 595 402 080 when I change it.

I bought one of the Yuasa 5019s this week:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yuasa-YBX5019-Per...amp;sr=8-1

There's lots of topics about batteries on here and this one seems to be highly regarded. Although not flat, as someone says in the answered questions on the Amazon listing, it needed about six hours of charging before it was ready to fit incidentally.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I bit the bullet and bought one (Yuasa) via eBay brand new next day UPS delivery.
There is an offer on there with a code called โ€˜PARTYTIMEโ€™ with some sellers.

So I had a few nectar points as well on top.
So the offer code took off about ยฃ21.50 approx and I had a few Nectar points. In the end I paid about ยฃ81 all in.

The offer code I mentioned above is still valid until a day or two and the 5yr warranty also applies.
So should anyone be interested donโ€™t hang about.

Very pleased with that! Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Anyone sharing prices they have paid?

Have bought a few batteries from carparts4less for other vehicles and keen to price check them.

Also, are people keeping the crap clamps or taking the opportunity to swap them out?

I wasnโ€™t aware of any alternatives to the clamps with the STD tray?
Unless you go down the route of dual batteries different trays, changing clamps etc etc.
Or am I missing something? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
