Another point of weakness is the actual door stays themselves. They are very easy to disconnect.

I am just about to fit security bolts to the front and rear doors instead of the simple clevis pin on the front door and standard bolt on the rear. For the middle doors I am going to fit security caps on the door stay nuts.

Hopefully will get this done this weekend and will report back if it all fits as planned.

I'm lucky enough to not have the attractive kind of door 😇

Maybe some stick on rust patches is the answer?!

They're easy enough to insert and difficult, although not impossible to lever out again, which is of course the whole point.

As an aside, I recently came across these on eBay, which appear to be a slightly more elegant solution. I suspect removal would require some very careful drilling:

I bought those a while back and found that they're not much use on the Nakatanenga stainless bolts because they don't stay put in the Torx hole. They can be bonded in place but even then they protrude and can easily be extracted using a screwdriver/chisel + hammer. The vendor indicated that he'd recently experienced the same on his son's vehicle and offered a complete refund.

If using silicone, is there any specific silicone that people would recommend?

Thanks

have got these inserts in each of the top hinges on the A post, and they have been hammered well in . Has anybody succeeded in removing and how did you go about it. I want to replace all the bolts with SS and am tempted to just leave these in place as the insert shows no rust and as the vehicle is Orkney Grey they blend in quite well.
any thoughts?

^^^ Anyone asking how to defeat security measures will be unlikely to get much information provided. Whilst it might be frustrating, it is also very reassuring when you think about it.

thanks for reply. Yes i understand - but these inserts are a deterrent to make an opportunist think twice as whatever method you use it will be time consuming. They seem to be a simple, cheaper and unobtrusive way to help you keep ypur doors. Have decided to leave them as they are Smile
