Billing is next weekend, all the tour firms will be there. it'd be an ideal opportunity to talk to them all.

What would be the fuel costs roughly for such a trip?

That's a real piece of string question to be honest chris. depends if you drive down, take the ferry, transporter etc. also how many miles you do when you get there. Our last morocco trip we took the portsmouth/bilbao ferry, then its 800 miles ish down to the south coast, then around 2500 miles when over there. Bear in mind fuel in morocco is cheap compared to here, from memory it was about 50 p a litre in april/may.
cost wise people always say its cheaper to drive but realistically, if you take into account food, camping costs (assuming you camp on the way down), it's all pretty much the same. Next time I go I'm gooing to drive down and then for the way back stick it on a transporter which is more expensive but is easy in time terms when the holiday is over and you don't have the long drive ahead of you. To give you an idea, transporter cost is about 650 quid from the south coast up to NW england |

I haven't got a pot to pee in at the moment Mike but I would love to maybe take 3 weeks out to drive down and back with a group one day, taking in a few sites on the way down. Sounds like a rough budget of maybe 2 - 2.5K to cover everything might be about right
It's the petrol which will cost, food can be done cheaply, sleeping in the vehicle will save on camp sites etc. If I could do it for around £1500 -1750 I think I would have crack at it |

you could do it for less - £2000 would be about right if you camp. Last time I put all expenses in spain on a card, and all expenses in morocco were cash. I took 1500 quid in cash and came back with about 700. You can't rely on ATMs even though there are plenty of them, they will often just not dispense the cash.
Also, not that this is likely to affect you but a massive no no is to take scottish money, the banks there will not accept it. also better to take crisp, new money. the banks will not take crumpled notes or in fact any note which has any kind of pen mark or ink on it of any kind, or any tears. |

New carpets or trip to Morrocco next year Hmmmm Better start saving and stop buying!!!! Thanks for the info
LROAC/Pro-Trax want £1195 per vehicle to be taken down their and back (17 days) with support and 10 days camp site fees paid for in Morocco. I bet they are good and I would want to go with people who have done it before but ouch! Petrol's got to be at least a grand on top! More research It's a long way down it would be good to take another 4-5 days for stops there and back to make the most of it, rather than just hacking down and up. 3 days to get down there seems a waste, Northern Spain is meant to be lovely........ i really want to do a similar trip too, but cant commit at the moment.
I would be doing it in my 2002 90 TD5, not a posh puma though! I would be really up for doing it with people from here that have been before rather than paying a tour company. A site trip would be great IMHO? Current:D4 HSE Gone: BMW Z4MC Gone: Defender TD5 90 CSW Previous: Discovery TD5 ES (Gone) |

I'd agree with your pricing. The bill I had for the D3 when Jo and I wnet the first year was about 1800 ish, poss a tad less. THe fuel for the trip was about the same for the ferry IIRC. But at the end of the day the drive down and up is good and yo get to see a bit of the country.
