Hi Chaps
I’ve sourced an early Front TD5 axle to replace my bent one on my TDCi 110. The panhard rod bolts from the TDCi were bigger so I had to drill out the axle casing brackets. I thought that was the only modification required. However I’ve got to the stage where I’m putting the anti roll bar back on and the ball joint tapers are a bit small for the TD5 casing and go too far into the socket , to the point where the thread is a hairs width from touching the radius arm . As far as I can see there is only one type of ARB ball joint available NTC1888 or am I wrong ? Any other solutions most welcome ! Rich https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Axle is all back together now and as I can’t get the front anti roll bar back on without welding on new brackets I’m just going to use It without .
Mine is a 2009 110DC in poverty spec and after some research they didn’t have an ARB fitted unless spec’d with alloy wheels ... which mine did until I sold them and replaced with wolf steels. Still I have the back one so that should eliminate some roll ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Well that puts an end to the alloy theory !
I believe that post 2010-11 all defenders had ARBs as standard but then again I’m sure some left the factory without . Is it possible to buy tapered shims anywhere , I have had a google and although they appear common in the U.S , they aren’t available in Blighty https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |
