Hi I did this in my V8 Discovery 1 some 7 years ago and got all the bits from RPi Engineering. Could not believe the slack in the old cam chain when it was removed!
Just take your time and label everything as you take it off! Cheers Don. |

Make sure you submerge the followers in oil for a day or so before fitting.

seems useful
http://thebritishcar.com/showthread.php?90...tall-guide Also i think you need to run at 1800 to 2000 rpm for 20 mins or so that the camshaft can harden. (this was mentioned on Wheeler Dealers when they did a cam change on a V8 ). Others more knowledgeable than me should be able to confirm. |

I was thinking of renewing the camshaft ,tappets , timing chain , push rods and rocker shafts and thing else I should look for.
what would a it cost to get this done by a recondition shop , if I cant find the time to do it ? |

You should also consider replacing the rockers, camshaft chain wheel, crankshaft chain sprocket, any oil seals you disturb, rocker cover gaskets, flame traps and dependent upon the type you have, the cylinder head bolts. It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten
