Plan is to go in to local branch and see if they can call Thatcham on my behalf , even if to get the ball rolling and i complete via email .
failing that my wife will try on friday , im good until 13 oct renewal date , so no total panic . Martin I will also send a PM just so they know , it may help . I at least feel a little more confident for my few add on's i will get a better deal than £400 for a 96 defender . its the £50 for a snorkel that has annoyed me . I really do appreciate everyone's help , |

Have you tried Adrian Flux, Bongo1? I have found them very good for my Defender, with agreed value etc.

OK update , with a couple of bits i had forgotten , as follows Boost alloys , moto-lita s/wheel , rock sliders , spots , A-bar , swing-away carrier , 7 seats , front silencer removal pipe , and the all important snorkel .
Cheshire , age 60 , no licence points , 9 years NCB , parked off the road , 6k a year mileage , £200 excess , . The grand total of £310 ..... that's less than i paid with no mods , my insurer wanted £400 without the swing away and silencer removal pipe , who knows how much for that , if a snorkel was £50 . Hope that gives a guide to others thinking of getting a quote from A-PLAN , some have said paid less ££££ for more mods but thats an honest list and quote . Im happy with it i saved £90 without adding the pipe + carrier on top . So a big THANKS to everyone especially you chaps that put me on to A-PLAN , gerry Last edited by Bongo1 on 26th Sep 2019 9:24pm. Edited 2 times in total |

Both Adrian Flux and A Plan added no extra to my policies for similar modifications.
If you shop around I'd say it shouldn't matter. |

Not sure how it was worked out , Maybe it was just the price of insuring a DEF 300tdi and the mods are thrown in so to speak . I just declared them as it was a new policy maybe if i add anything else it wont increase the price .

There is an article in this weeks Auto-Express about what must be declared and a very short list with what doesn’t need to be. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

it can be a laugh! My rover metro was the same price to insure as a 1.4 16v as it was as a 1.8vvc! Some stuff though I don't think they really care about, unless its a major jump on performance like an engine size increase etc. but for basic stuff likes of spots etc, I don't think they care. I had all that declared on the rover metro and they didn't care, but it was the performance side they were more interested in. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |
