Norfolk has days when they will allow paint and other canned / bottled materials to be dumped. It's usually one weekend a year per tip, sorry, recycling centre. Any other time of the year, paint, solvents, glues etc. are definitely not wanted.

I had a load to get rid of and my local Council organised a waste disposal company to come and get it all. I have worked in the Construction industry all my life in one form or another. The disposal cost about ยฃ20 from memory. I had to list down what each can was and how much of the product was left. I also had to take pictures. It took perhaps 3 or 4 months from first contact with Council and final disposal.

It wasn't straight forward, it was time consuming and it was lucky that I knew what I was looking at, was able to give the waste disposal firm an inventory and was in no hurry to get rid of the stuff.

Then the powers that be wonder why solvents, paints etc. are flushed down the drains or dumped on the side of the road?

As Sulisuli says, it's not pleasant for the people who work in water recycling (I think that's the correct term now Laughing ) and in some cases is actually downright dangerous.

What I would add is the Guys at our local recycling centre are as good as gold. Really helpful and they just want to make sure the stuff is going in the correct bin. I have seen people give them a hard time (to the point they were going to start wearing body cams !!!) Pretty sad really as they are just doing their job and not making the rules up.

It's amazing the difference in rules depending where you live.

I'm ok (to an extent) but I know the tip my parents use over the district border, can take a trailer but must be pre-booked and they operate a rigid under 2.0m policy on the entrance gate.

I wonder if any one has every conducted a study to understand the relationship between overly stringent policies and fly tipping in areas? 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Norfolk charge for 'Builders' and 'DIY' waste. Anything that looks like this you have to pay per bin bag (however much you can get in) or per trailer. It's cheaper to tip a trailer at the local skip company and I think this is what the council are trying to do. Unfortunately, there is builders waste dumped in lay-bys, farm roadways etc. They sometimes are able to prosecute, but very rarely.

You also have to pay for tyres (ยฃ5 each ?)

There is a height restriction bar on my local, but it is never pulled over and I have no idea what it is or whether it is Defender friendly.

There was a no twin axle trailer rule once I believe, but as long as its not blatant trade waste, there never seems to be any issues.

I used to take my company van in. Again, if it's obviously household waste, there were never any concerns.

My local tip used to have a plastics bin, but this is long gone and it is now just put in the general waste. In fact, there are a lot less types of bin than there used to be.

These blasted height barriers are a damn annoyance too.

I was down at Lynton, Devon this time last week.
Went to park at the end of the car park where it normally is quieter.
Guess what, half way along now there is a damn height barrier, and a silly little mini roundabout too just in front of it that you need to do a 3 point turn in a 90 just to even turn around and get back out.
I'm not going to risk trying to go under anything like that.

Isn't that Lynmouth rather than Lynton, at least if we're thinking of the same one (right at the end by the seafront, past the TIC with the cafe upstairs that does great breakfasts)?

Yep Lynmouth, thatโ€™s the one stones throw away from Lynton.
I was going to stop right at the end as I did in the past. Banned. Rolling Eyes
Here you can see it before the mini roundabout. There is a height barrier now. Must have been built this year as not on this google street view

I was going to park right down the end. Here:

It was so busy in fact I just had to leave and park elsewhere for a bit instead.
Ridiculous really is.
Those Chelsie should vans etc you see, now couldn't even park there.
Can only but assume it's some kind of discrimination against bigger vehicles.
I had only intended to stop there for a break, not park up and leave it there but couldn't even do that. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Secured the exhaust pipe for the diesel heater

Decided a dust/mud shield was required for the diesel heater intake. This will be sprayed black and bolted in place.

Today Dolly had her new wheels fitted which were bought from another forum member on Saturday Thumbs Up

My plan is to run the KO1s up to Leeds for a family visit and see how I get on with them. Moving from SVX wheels with Continentals and will make my decision when I return as to what stays on tyre wise Smile

Grabbed a quick picture while the other half was in Tesco

Took a trip to the Garden Waste Centre today.

And then picked up a back load of wood chip for the flowerbeds.

Managed to get everything cleaned up and squared away before the rain came.
