Some good work there, and all seems to be coming along nicely and some good pratical mods, like the bonnet key. Always wondered why LR never thought about uniforming the keys fitted to a vehicle.

Especially like the snorkel/airbox fit. Thumbs Up 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

So another eventful weekend, got the TD5 dash installed thanks to the guide by @Retroanaconda. It was pretty straight forward once you work out all the wire colours and the other half of the main plug is now cheaply available so you don't need to chop the old one off. Still need to connect the other end of the fuel gauge when i find the wire and I haven't run it up to temperature yet to see if the temperature gauge works but everything seems to be working as it should. It also turned out to be a nice low mileage speedo.

My solution for the auto shifter was to fit it in the usual gear stick hole and use a surround console to mount the shifter into. It seems to have worked quite well although I've lost the surround trim piece for the shifter if anyone has one kicking around? I'm not 100% happy with the placement but I want to use the centre seat area so I don't have the option of fitting it there.I might look at mounting it into the dash at some point but it can stay where it is for now.

I've almost finished the induction setup as well, just waiting on an adaptor for the turbo to turn up. The airbox is a cleverly simple design and fully water tight when fitted.

The list of things left to do is getting very short now. Should hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks! Tom

Not a great amount to update this week. Have borrowed some wheels and tyres from a friend as I don't have a set of 4 matching sizes in my collection.

They're a bit small for the extended arches but beggars can't be choosers, I'll get some bigger wheels and tyres shortly.

Fitting the wheels also meant I could get the tracking set up on the new Gwyn Lewis HD steering bars.

I'd been putting off repairing the cheap tailgate I bought as it was in really bad condition, I've managed to get it near presentable and got it painted. Its raptor lined on the back side and over the top lip same as the tub load area.

And got it fitted although the hinges are very stiff so need to attempt to lubricate them.

The reducer for my airbox to turbo pipe turned up last week so that's all finished off now as well. Tom

Small update, it seems the closer it is to being finished, the less time I'm spending working on it!

All lights fitted and working and wired in the towing socket. Also fitted some overcentre catches, not land rover ones but they were 6 times the price.

I got some of the half door trims from Mud and they seem really nicely made. I've had a few bits from them in the past and they seem to be one of only a few who are actually coming up with some new products.

I also sorted out the kickdown cable by fitting the discovery bracket to the air con pump bolts and making up a rod to actuate it. Just need to adjust the cable once everything is up and running.

And finally a not-quite-finishing touch, I got a grill panel decal made up

So been quiet on here for the last few weeks but things have been cracking on at my usual slow pace!

Had a minor distraction in the shape of a light bar, I wanted to see if I could paint the internals of one to make it fit stealthily behind the grill. I think it's come out quite well for not a lot of effort and it'll definitely come in handy on greenlanes.

Next up, I obviously needed bigger wheels and tyres just because.....

I got the new Nakatanenga ANR Classic wheels and 285/75/16 BFG KM3s

At the weekend I got it out of the garage for the first time under it's own steam/smoke, the 5 year old diesel had matured slightly so needed pumping out and fresh putting in to cut down the smoke levels! All seemed to drive ok and nothing fell off which was a bonus.

I've now got a bit of a dilemma with arches, I fitted standard arches to the rear tub because the tyres were sticking out beyond the body (they still need trimming in the pic below), but I don't know whether I'd prefer standard arches on the front instead of the extended ones I have at the moment....... a bit tarty I know!

One of the final pieces to the puzzle was the windscreen, I found a local guy fitting heated windscreens for a reasonable amount so thought I would pay a professional rather than risk breaking it myself. After moaning that there wasn't much room in the garage, he had it fitted within 5 minutes! It took him longer to polish off the fingerprints afterwards, well worth the money! I just need to get the wiring sorted now which in hindsight would have been easier to fit while I had the dash off.

I got it booked in for an MOT yesterday, and in my panic forgot to get any pictures in it's finished state, but it PASSED with no advisories!

To say I'm over the moon is an understatement, especially when you start doubting whether you have tightened everything up.

There's a few minor bits I need to sort out now after having a bit of a longer test run in it.

- Boost leak from bottom intercooler hose, I need to adjust the inner wing slightly as its pushing the pipe over too much which means the pipe is slipping out of the hose.
- It's very slow, some of that is probably due to the boost leak but it also needs the pump tweaking slightly and kickdown adjusting I think.
- Passenger seat is VERY rattly, I need to think of a different way of latching it at the rear.
- Still need to fit the bottom door seals, hopefully that'll get rid of some draftiness. Tom
