If it’s in a defender, doesn’t a disco box have the gearstick too far back?

to fit an R380 to a 200tdi you need a 'stumpy' bell-housing that's shorter.
Going the other way with fitting an LT77 to 300tdi I don't know, but why would you, it's a downgrade. Ashcrofts whould know the answer |

Discovery"s have the long bell housing and pinion shaft, thats why the gearstick is back near driver, i had an Lt 77 fitted to a 300tdi. so splines must be same, just check brfore you fit, , i have also put a Discovery LT380 IN A DEFENDER, you have to change the front shaft & bellhousing, to the shorter defender one , thats a box split jobby.

I think some additional info on what you’re wanting to do with the engine/gearbox combo would be helpful.
A few quick answers for the meantime… Will the LT77 fit the 300tdi? Yes, it will be a direct fit. Will it fit straight in a defender? No, as has been mentioned the disco gearstick is in a further back location on the gearbox, among other complications depending on current engine/gbox. |
