Yeah, not a single one of these people look like Defender drivers. Most likely actors that LR hired as part of their marketing campaign #lol. --

Nicely spotted good to see you read my posts before replying this time, I dont care if anyone is suspicious, you want be to post up something negative? Do it yourself, if and when i find something negative i will decide if it warrants a post(my choice not yours) i have a huge history on other landrover forums, find it for yourself before you start accusding people of being paid for thier passion. Unbelievable!
Dont like it leave or scroll on.
As ive said before using your logic the habitual only negstive posters are also paid, have a go at them too.
Your posts have also been reported, you have 32 posts on this forum, by way of contribution you are much more of a newcomer than many on this thread mysepf included (again not that its a competition) And its JLR vehicles not LR vehicles. If you want to know about all my vehicles ive had some can be found online, other than that pm me and if and when I feel comfortable with you i may decide to tell you what ive owned.
Seriously all other posts on this subject will be ignored and reported.
Im not here for or have time for days of our lives drama, im here to share and learn about the new defender, dont like it, i dont care.

Is this entire topic now on a point where people have to justify having a positive opinion on the new Defender on a LR forum?

They are new defender drivers.
Nothing wrong with that. And yes this is a totally different vehicle from the original. I personally think LR handled the nameplate on this design poorly . Shoulda been a discovery replacement and the new defender shoulda been a ridiculous off road gwagen beater, but they didn’t do that. However, it doesn’t mean this won’t be a good vehicle. I want to be able to justify owning one. Hope it’s good enough I can. I hope it is so good it turns things around for LR despite their continued poor decisions. If it can pull that off I guarantee there’s one in my driveway. Oh and it will be my wife’s car. And yes that is soooo not old defender. Like it or not it is new defender.

No. Martin runs a great website where discourse is usually good. I feel sure he will 'deal' with a certain poster very soon. I remember another Land Rover forum slowly went this way, and people stopped posting. It's totally unnecessary. Now left.

I am thoroughly disappointed with the attitude displayed in many of the recent posts in this thread.

I understand this is a divisive subject, however that is no excuse for bad attitudes towards each other. It is possibly to communicate opposing views without that taking the form of personal attacks.

Newer members should be aware that this community is not one where argumentative input is going to be tolerated. Of the recent posts, the "jeering" of others stands out as particularly poor.

The site's terms of use, agreed to by everyone upon their registration, whenever that was, includes:

Those ignoring this will find their site access removed.

Final warnings all round, I am keeping a close eye on this thread.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

hahah, hey naks

cant agree with ya this time Razz

https://www.landrover.de/defender/team-def...nner-frame click on are you team defender then click more, shows all the people that entered. (windows almost translates the page but if you keep clicking stuff you find it

Looks like all the people in the vid entered this competition, hundreds of submissions by the looks

I kept clicking more and it just kept going, didn't get to the end, lots of varied defender drivers, defender drivers can dress up nice too, i've got a few mates that scrub up ok and drive em. Cool

Their names are also on the video for everyone to see.

Looks real to me.

I don't think Landrover get up to fake infomercial shenanigans hiring people for comment.

hey welcome to the forum, fair comment, i'm hoping so too as i've already got a deposit down Rolling with laughter
Im also confident it could become a gwagon beater, especially if they do a BMW v8 SVX version, the 6 will do me for now though.

The main factor will be cost! If it is much more expensive than a pick up then it will not sell to the farmers, utilities etc. That is the market that defenders should be aiming for, the rest of the Land Rover range cover the SUV and luxury market. 80" 1948

Good point, there was an article in Australia where Land Rover Australia was on record saying there would be options to suit volume by a pricing right up to high-end.
Interesting also that the D5 is used buy a fair few governments in significant numbers, more than likely it's commercial version.

I've said it before...

I think it will be a great vehicle and a great money spinner for JLR, which HAS to be a positive thing.

I love the fact it will be different (It's been vaguely the same for too long)

I hope it's a MASSIVE success.

I Hope I will get one, one day

If you hate it, just keep buying the old style Defender and quit whining, you weren't the target market anyway! 2016 D4 HSE

Live in hope, but have owned discoveries and Range Rovers, the quality control has been appalling. Hope this gets quality and longevity right. I really want a dependable Land Rover that can work for a living.
Hopefully with interest free purchase options, but think I have a better chance of winning The lottery. 80" 1948

RRUK, massive success would mean JLR makes lots of money...why should I be concerned about this? After all this is an indian company producing in Slovakia.

The old defender is a fair vehicle, ok with some issues, but fixable and reasonbly priced. Furthermore owners tend to keep them for a long time, which in my eyes is better for our planet.

I will most likely not buy one, because it is no better than a BMW x5, Mercedes ML or another "premium" SUV that people get rid of because after the face lift it already looks old. Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR

Both Jaguar and Land Rover have suffered issues continually with regard to quality - just look at these issues as reported through JD power surveys. I think early adopters, especially if new to the brand will be disappointed.

Brand new vehicle built at a brand new factory by brand new staff - it's not an ideal mixture to introduce new buyers to your brand.

This vehicle was conceived as part of the overall plan to sell 1 million vehicles per year - the defender was supposed to contribute 100k to this total. However, because of certain issues, both internal and external to JLR they are falling well short of that now. The issue with lack of sales of the D5 also means there are those that didn't buy it to replace an earlier version and may well jump on this model as actually being the D4 spiritual successor; further cannibalising sales.

I certainly didn't recognise any of them as the type of person I see when doing the rounds of LR shows...
