Soo after a long time not giving much time to Jas as Maggie has had my undivided attention it was time to do some overdue maintenance to Jas, with winter coming and a stack of dinitrol I thought it was time to give a coat over Jas's chassis.
Up on the ramp she goes: Click image to enlarge A lot of dust/c p later I have a clean chassis but after looking at the bushes, shocks and springs I have decided to replace the lot, springs were properly ok but at nearly 20 years old I might as well put new ones on prior to underselling her. Jacking up: Click image to enlarge Old and new Click image to enlarge Not much sag for 20 years. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge As I haven't shown Jas much love in the last few months she decided to repay me in the way all grumpy women do and fight me on everything, every nut, bolt, alignment of anything was a struggle! Click image to enlarge Rear tie rod bolt seized solid in the metal sleeve and detached from the bush, the angle grinder, big hammers and lots of swearing were called upon a lot New bits fitted: Click image to enlarge Just needs new springs that didn't arrive Friday Click image to enlarge And the pile of rubbish: Click image to enlarge So hopefully I will get some rear springs tomorrow and I can get a layer of dinitrol on.............. let's just and the words Land Rover to that and I'm covered to have it done at some point some time in the future 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Very envious of your large toolbox and the workshop that you keep it in you know what women are like if you dont give them some attention every now and then 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Wish she did live in the workshop but I only get it out of hours, still luckier than most so I can't complain, yea women are fun and interesting characters, it really is amazing how much Land Rovers assume that role 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Good work mate
My front bulkhead is a little scabby and mid next year i'm thinking that I need to check it to make sure it's solid before the whole 90 is resprayed, how much time should I allow for a strip down? 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top |

I took about a week and a half for the whole job including paint. To check it out all you really need to do is remove the bonnet and the front wings and any interior carpet, the wings are only 5 bolts on the bulkhead, a couple mounting on the inner arch and 3? On the radiator mount, removal of a few bits like fuel filter/header tank etc. The worst parts of a bulkhead tend to be the footwells and the top corners.
Time wise allow 3 days; a day to remove, a day to asses and treat with some rust converter then spray on some dinitrol and a day to rebuild, reality you could if all goes well do it in a weekend easily but always better to allow more time As you can see in this post when I did mine I coated the footwells in dinitrol and you can't see it unless the bonnets open and you look for it, definitely worth doing with the wings off as you can get to it easier. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well it’s been a while since Jasmin has had any love but as I’ve had a few nice days during my time off I thought it was about time to do something that’s been annoying me for a long time:
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge How many shades of green can you count ? As this is a genuine Wolf and I believe vehicles should be a working example apposed to beyond factory fresh that many military vehicle owners unfortunately fall into the trap of I decided that a field spray was most appropriate. Click image to enlarge A simple wash and a run around to remove the worst of the flaking paint completed my prep work, any bare areas had an etch prime and it was ready for paint: Click image to enlarge Fancied something a little different to just a NATO green so added a little sandstone: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I’ve always liked this style of camouflage so this seemed an appropriate time to do it, there are a few runs and some overspray due to the wind and the slightly underpowered compressor but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed in time, on the whole I’m happy with the outcome. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |
