Better just correct what I said about the Mobile Security Systems chest not fitting the right way up before I get complaints from the company as they will be looking Whistle (Apologies Clare!)

The chest does fit the correct way up but sticks out by 1.5" on a SW Puma because of the thicker window surrounds. I decided to fit it the correct way not on it's side and it is a quality bit of kit Thumbs Up

Finally fitted the noise suppressor for the CB. Not wanting to drill holes everywhere it'll still only be plugded in when I need it, but the alternator whine has gone and only a very slight amount of crackling now.

It's very much a compromised set up, but after taking another couple of mm off the bottom of the aerial, the SWR is a little lower and I managed to communicate 4.2 miles yesterday at 5lb with no interference. That's over 16x better than using the rubber duck inside the vehicle, although this was decent, in reception and transmission, but only for 1/2 a mile.

The sump is £30 . Oil is £40 and filter a tenner.... did Dr Who fit it?

Oil £55.84
Filter £9.98
Sump plug washer £2.60
Labour for oil change £88.50 less 20% = £70.80 Shocked

Sump pan £30.90
Gasket £12.17
Labour for sump pan change £106.20 less 20% = £84.96 Shocked Big Cry

Total £267.25 + VAT = £320.70 Big Cry Shocked Big Cry

Since the LTB00110 Tech Service Bulletin states that the standard time for the sump replacement operation is 1 hour, that suggests that main dealer labour rate is now £106.20 per hour, and also that an oil change takes 50 minutes. Both of these seem a bit steep!

Also, looking at the WSM, the operation to replace the oil and filter (12.60.05) includes draining and refilling the sump, but the operation to replace the sump (12.60.44) also includes draining and refilling; so have I been charged twice for this?

Does anyone here have access to the Landrover standard repair times for these operations?

Thanks.

I see you use alot of auto glym products ... I would have thought with your background that there would be some yacht hard wax that you use on your defender?

I gave my 110 a first wax with some Swiss stuff, can't remember the name but my neighbours complimented me on the shine.

I have yacht wax packed away somewhere - project for the w/e - find the yacht wax..

Yetiman, Ive spent the last few evenings claying my Defender, and Ive got as far as waxing the roof with FinishKare FK1000P wax. Im using some Werkstat Acrylic on the rest of the bodywork.

Still got the rest to do. Fortunately I dont have any swirls to correct as its just been resprayed.

Good luck with your correction Thumbs Up Are using a machine polisher?
