Lt230 can use GL4 or GL5
Diffs commonly use GL5 (EP90, 80W90, 75W90). Not sure which viscosity for your diff model. Gearboxes mostly use GL4 or some other manual transmission blends. Straight GL5 is not recommended for synchro transmission. Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

I’ve since been told that GL5 can attack the brass components in the Salisbury diffs, so the more I look into it the more conflicting information I get, definitely confused now

You can get oils that are both GL4 and GL5 and are fine for all the driveline. They are a bit more expensive but are good if you want to just use one product throughout. Miller's and Motul are two brands that make them.
If you are not sure I thoroughly recommend you contact Opie Oils. They are knowledgeable and helpful. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

apparently this only ever happens when the oil starts to boil, which is never, but the risk is there albeit very small. GL5 for the most part is a better oil |

The GL5 talk is a hangover from the Series era. Either is fine.
