What I mean is if you have a snorkel and you are with Direct Line, you have no insurance, they will not cover you.

Whichever insurer or broker you are with, it is important that you tell them about all modifications otherwise your policy could be voided!

I find Direct Line are good and pay £230 a year for a 2016 90 XS CSW. I think the main influence on their prices is how your profile fits into their little boxes though, so you need to try quite a few. A lot of the big players are not on the comparison sites so you need to go direct to them.

Hey!
Just to clarify as above, some insurers will straight up void your cover if you have undeclared Mods - every mod whether its spotlights, a winch, snorkel etc should be declared just to make sure you are covered correctly. Otherwise you are just paying for an expensive piece of paper... some insurers are more lenient and may say you need to pay x amount difference in premium to keep cover but this isn't common and it will depend on your insurers terms and processes which do vary. Be very careful about how you ask about your mod cover too, some "standard" insurers (I can't name names but you will find them on comparison sites) will cover a modified vehicle, but if you ask are my mods covered the answer is no, so in the event of a claim you may come up short as they will only payout for the standard vehicle and exclude mods, so even if you spent £5k on modifications it won't be taken into account when written off for example. If you have mods it's best to go for modified insurance when you can, it's often more cost effective and holds more financial benefit if the worst was to happen. If anyone would like a quote we are here for the members and we offer like for like modified cover, contact details below, but if you are unsure on whether your current cover covers the mods as well it is worth making a quick phonecall to your insurance before finding out the hard way 01635 874646 www.aplanspecialist.co.uk Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pm Saturdays 8.30am - 12noon As always, I'm here to help and feel free to PM me Carlie Howden Insurance - Specialist Vehicle Call us on 01635 874646 for a quotation Last edited by A-Plan Insurance on 27th Jul 2019 8:59pm.
