High Mileage - Thoughts Please?
Looking at getting another 110 Utility after selling mine last year and now regretting it.

Whats your thoughts on a high mileage example like this below?

3 previous owners in 7 years seems a lot, as it will be 4 in 7 if you buy it.
The service history is probably more important than the mileage, depends how much you intend to increase it by?
Comes with a short warranty that can be extended., but at what price and what does it cover??

For that price, regardless of what the dealer says, it comes with a six month warranty. No judge would back a dealer up if something serious failed on a vehicle costing that much after four months.

It used to be the Sale of Goods Act I think, but I'm pretty sure it changed in 2015.

It's had four previous owners incidentally (it says "Previous owners excl. current: 3")

Nice and shiny, perhaps a good look underneath would be advisable though.

Not been following prices since selling my 14 plate. They are all over the place aren't they?

Some 110's are £15k more expensive than others with same mileage and options.

That’s punchy pricing for the mileage, as said above, keep looking .

Having said that , high mileage wouldn't necessarily put me off. I’d rather that than a low mileage farmers truck that had been left idling for the majority of it’s life or a city car that’s had it’s gearbox , brakes and clutch heavily applied hundreds of times a day ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

The mileage would not in itself put me off, I would assess the condition. The price probably would however since I don't feel that the mileage is reflected in the price.

Personally I would much rather buy a higher mileage vehicle which had predominantly been used for longer journeys than a very low mileage vehicle which had only ever been used for very short journeys.

I’ll also add that our local Land Rover specialist made it very clear that he see’s the most problems with older lower mileage vehicles with Blocked DPFs or EGRs and glazed bores . The transit engine likes to be worked hard , hence the white van drivers appearing to get away with murder . I’m not suggesting you thrash it but holding those gears a bit longer before changing makes all the difference ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

But how can you tell if it's been used for long or short journeys?
A few years ago I drove a lot more than today. I still have long journeys, just not out the door every day anymore. Mileage on this one therefore is a lot less.

I'm echoing what most others are saying. After a long hard day yesterday I eventually sat down at 9pm and turned on the TV and watched yet another Homes in the Country - "chewing gum for the eyes". So what has this got to do with dwrights dilemma? Well, the couple house hunting fell in love with first house they looked at. They again fell in love when they saw the second house. The presenter surely couldn't top this! Low and behold the third "mystery" house did top it and they couldn't believe it.

As stated by others, just keep looking and don't be drawn in to the first one or two that you look at. Good luck with your search. Thumbs Up Defender 90XS SW

There was a guy on here a few years back who used his Defender to tow a tri axle trailer all round the UK delivering new cars. I cam't remember his name but his mileage was huge. Thats was mostly motorway work. I wonder how reliable his truck was?
