Defender 110 XS SW. Nearly 5 years old.
Quite a bit of rust developing on the 2nd row doors sills around the area at the end of the door seal. LR won't cover under corrosion warranty. I'm crap with paint , so thinking of sanding back to bare metal then using some buzzweld to stop from rusting again. To make it pretty, I'll just fit some of those stainless steel protective sill covers. Am I going to screw it up, or is this a decent idea? On a similar thread, the paint job LR Hull did around the windscreen just 12 months ago is already staring to bubble. I don't want to go through the pain of dealing with them again, but LR York said not covered by warranty. It's way beyond my ability to do anything, not sure if I should just let rot then replace in a few years or get a decent independent to take a look. Has anyone used http://autorefinishersyork.com/ ? They were recommended by LR York, but not sure if that's a good thing! |

In case it helps, I had corrosion in that area and it was covered by warranty without query recently. Might be worth trying another dealer?

I'm done with LR dealers. Hull do crap work. York are just unhelpful and only interested in selling new. Ripon is too far. Pickering send you to Hull.
In the time it takes me to get the approval and drive to a distant dealer a minimum of 3 times, I can probably earn enough to pay for the work with a local independent. Sadly, this will be my 3rd and last Land Rover. Nothing to do with the new Defender not being a Defender, purely down to build quality and dreadful customer service. |
