super extended mode, if the car thinks its going to ground out it puts it into extended mode and then you can manually put it into super extended mode.

Jack

And then, if you're some people, you put on full lock and rev the nuts out of it and wonder why you blow a CV joint all over Yarwell or similar. Note: Blowing one in anger in North Africa is not the same Thumbs Up

You best get your facts right

Or find yourself in very soft sand in Yarwell, a large boulder in front of you, you cant reverse as that will make things worse. No choice but to turn left as the boulder is in the way, the lake and a drop is on the right, apply a little power as we don't want to spin the wheels and 'dig in' and bang goes the drive shaft. As it turns out the car went into extended mode (never went into super extended) The divers wheel found a very deep hole decided to take a look into it and the rest is history. Well apart from people telling tales.

Oh to fix the issue I fitted adjustable steering locks to the lower wishbone of the D3

Ok I get the bit about the extensions, but that pic makes it look like it has J rods fitted or whatever they're called. i folled a disco yesterday down the happy valley and his ground clearance was poor in rock crawl mode, it kept hitting the spare wheel carrier so whilst I can see that it can extend a lot, i m not sure I agree that the ground clearance is "better" since in normal mode, it isnt.

If I was doing the road of bones there is no way i would take a disco. too many electronics to go wrong, too much hassle when the compressor failed and left it on its arse. actually the BAM road is the one which I fancy doing. there is a pretty cool looking bridge which would be excellent to do

I wasn't referring to you Mr S - there are a few tales of CV woe from various quarry and P&P visits, where people have yelled "whoa!!!" to be ignored by the driver. I think Gary's one at Hogmoor was a classic example of that.

A Disco can climb Mt Everest towing an artic lorry for all I care - it's still a mum run special laden with too much tech, makes an Italian car look reliable and weighs more than the Moon. And looks like a Tonka toy.

Added to that, it's as cool as the centre of the Sun and every other road user hates them. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter I'll tell the missus, she loves her D3. Must admit, I think it's a cracking motor Thumbs Up

In our circumstances......Mum's run wagon????..... absolutely !!!! Will it ever go off road ???...... will it bollix .... However.....

I can't think of many safer places (in all weather conditions) for Mrs Monkey and our troop of Monkey Juniors.

Kids hate it though as we're one of the few who can get them to school when it snows Mr. Green .... Now if only the teachers had one aswell ....... Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.
